Ladies - you need a Mooncup. Bestest invention ever, far more economical and environmentally friendly than tampons/pads - and in use it's far less messy, no leaks!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

I have had one for about 4yrs and once you get over the first couple of times you use it (it can take some getting used to for the first couple of months) it is worth the outlay and much more comfortable then tampons how I have found it.

bet that was before his sainsburys contract!!:rotfl:0 -

I have laughed and laughed all the way through this thread.. it is pure genius 'Thank you' to all who have kept me entertained for days!!
May I do and never really thought about
*Save lolly sticks for plant labels
*Rinse bottles / cans etc to get every drop out
*Keep Parmesan rind to go in soups and stews
*Save buttons but never thought of putting in a tin!!
* re fill cleaning spay bottles with star drops and a bit of bleach
* Vinegar in sauce bottles (My grandparents & parents do same)
* Re fill room fragrance bottles (electric plug ins) with carrier oil and
essential oil - cheaper then buying expensive refills
Think thats it for now!! :j:jGoal - We want to be mortgages free :j

re sanpro, if you get a Mirena coil you don't have periods any more (not that need tampons anyway) and it's free and the easiest contraception ever, and it's meant to help with the menopause, not that mine's quite started yet. I realise it's not for everyone but it works brilliantly for me, tho I never thought of it as moneysaving! Maybe that's the oddest thing on this post?!
On a more 'normal' note, I also keep sample lino tiles of about 3" square which you get given by flooring shops, they make great coasters and of course come in many many shades to suit your decor ;-)
And if you have clothes that sort of need ironing, smooth them very flat when almost dry then pile them up somewhere warm, they come out lovely and smooth, it's like putting them on the Aga, which the Aga book recommends (not that I have one, you understand - an Aga I mean - I did splash out on the book ;-)
And if you travel by train, ask at the buffet for decaff tea. They don't have it but they will usually give you free hot water, milk and sugar for you to make your own with the tea bag you brought with you. Saves over £1!
I keep thinking of more! If you use any kind of wipe, store the pack upside down so the liquid that's in them doesn't evaporate. Even children can be trained to do this.... in time...
And I use an old thick odd sock to pop over my flask to keep the heat in longer, works really well.
If I order library books on my ticket, my local library charges 80p. If I order them on my son's ticket, it's free. Do it online then they don't notice ;-)
I put lentils in almost every cooked stew-type thing - bolognese sauce etc, no-one notices.
When I've rubbed oil and salt into baking potatoes, I rub my hands for a minute and get lovely smooth hands0 -

It seems such a waste to chuck it after one use.
No, not the only one. I do try to make myself chuck it when it starts going grey.:D0 -
My parents use nappy bags instead of poo bags for the dog- they're better quality.
I use cheap baby wipes to clean up when I'm painting, crafting etc.
I used to have a mooncup but didn't use it for very long- it got very uncomfortable for me.
My dad and I have a habit of taking those little sauce sachets from cafes, but then never using them.
My mum refills squeezy handwash bottles with bath cream, I think.
I squeeze the toothpaste then cut the tube open.
My dad and I fight over who gets to 'clean' baking dishes when we've served food- we eat the leftover bits, eg lasagne crust, with a spoon, before the actual meal.0
