Champys, my mum wears lenses and needs reading glasses when wearing the lenses.
But, she buys her readers from the £1 shop or other cheapo places.
She has loads of pairs and then if a pair breaks, or she leaves them somewhere, it's not an expensive do to replace themOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -

I'm a fairly new Freecycler, having found them in November, but have given and taken a few very useful items, including a rechargeable hand held vacuum cleaner - great for quick clean ups, instead of my big cleaner. It's been great so far. :TDMP mutual support thread No: 433 - Mortgage - £54,556, Credit cards - £4012, Unsecured loan - £3,376, Other - £419

At first i couldn't think that i did anything to qualify. But even though I've only just discovered MSE and started the GC challenge, I've been cutting open foundation tubes and free samples of moisturiser, swilling tins and jars of sauce out, turning bottles upside down and using old shirts and socks for dusters for ages.
My latest is pushing the toothbrush handle up the inside column of the toothpaste pump, to push the last day's supply out. Has anyone else mentioned that yet?
I've still got lots to learn though so I'll bookmark this thread to carry on reading it another time.0 -
It depends - Ceridwen is right, and there is some information about it on the MSE site here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/health/Cheap-Contact-Lenses#daily
Since reading this, I have started using my daily lenses for a week, and that works fine! They are not the cheapest ones though (acuvue). Sadly I will now very soon have to move on to bifocal lenses, which do not come as dailies, and are quite expensive. I may have to get back to specs! Or stick with the dailies and carry reading glasses around.
I have re-used my dailies on occasion, but for as long as a week or month. Will give this a go.2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0 -
If my tights get a ladder in one leg I save them until another pair gets one too. Then I just cut off the legs with the ladder and wear both pairs one-legged!
This also has the added bonus of the two 'pants bits' worn together having a gripper knicker effect.0 -

We had a neighbour some 40 years ago in Bolton who used to run out and shovel up horse dung into a bucket. One day a passerby said to her "Eeh, that's a mucky hobby you've got there missus. What're u going to do with it?" She said "I'm going to put it on my rhubarb." And he replied..................."That's horrible - I have custard with mine!":rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Yes, it did happen! Can I just say a Really Big Thank you. I have spent the evening working my way through this forum. I haven't done any of my craft work, or letter writing that I'd planned, but it has been one of the most entertaining evenings I've spent in ages. Some of the tips I already do, but some of them I will definitely be taking up. It's been fun and informative. So thanks to each and everyone!DMP mutual support thread No: 433 - Mortgage - £54,556, Credit cards - £4012, Unsecured loan - £3,376, Other - £419

Our local school was making some kind of art project using the very same milk bottle lids. So perhaps that was what it was for.Penny xxx

I took me a few hours of reading this thread from the beginning to find the other two uses.
Come to think of it, I've just invented a new parlour game for after Christmas lunch............... 'New Uses for Grandma's Buttons'....... perhaps this could be a new thread!!
Someone on this site mentioned before, sewing a flat button to the corner of a duster and if there are any stubborn bits of dried in weetabix or such like, use the button to help remove it. I hope you understand what I mean.Penny xxx
