I participated in a community arts project where we knitted using old jumpers, bags, cassettes, videotape, electrical wire and rope. The rope shredded my fingers

Oh no.. I blow my nose fold the tissue carefully then wipe my bum on it too.. :D.. hubby goes mad.. especially as it is tesco value paper anyway lol!!

I also use one baby wipe to wipe 6-7 childrens faces as they walk out of the door in a morning.. lol.. then have been known to clean the bannister/stairs dado rails with the same wipe... value wipes of course!!

save squirty bottle to fill with diluted other stuff.. stardrops for example.. then I can use it as a spot cleaner rather than use a gallon for a small job.

I love recycling presents too.. or the 342 offers and use the free one for something for myself.

old tights stuffed with nwespaper as door snakes.

My friend and I have pretty much swapped our house contents everything from half knitted sweaters to velvet curtains!! that is just madness!!

bunny poop goes in the compost bin.. along with the wood litter we use... the flies like it!

paper bags I fill with compostable waste and fling the bag in the bin as well. failing those I have used tesco biodegradable carriers as well. I use my mothers shredded paper as well.. saves room in her bin and makes me feel like I am making her do some recycling seeing as she doesn't do any.

Haven't had chance to read through all of these but my word there's some good tips.
Chalky............like the knitting idea from carrier bags.

Loo roll instead of tissue.............we always have that.

OH's underpants make good dusters when he's done with them.
Old towels cut up for floor cloths
Get the last out of the shampoo/bubble bath/anything with a drop of water

Old scraps of paper, material, anything in fact, for making my own greetings cards.

And I haunt the charity shops for household stuff and clothes. When I get bored with them I give them back so the charity gets the cash twice over and someone else has a cheap jumper.

Can''t think of anything else just now..............fascinating thread

OH underpants used to get used as floorcloths.... until Mum came to stay and she carefully mended them... thinking the holey things were what he wore!!!!

Now I CUT OFF THE CROTCH before they are transformed into floorcloths!

I found the pattern for the shopping bag in a modern knits book. It is really easy and although everyone thought it hilarious to start with they are really impressed by the end result. You cut the handles off the bag then start to cut it in 1 continual spiral strip-- like peeling an orange and tehn knit with the strip. Make 2 sides then a gusset the total length and sew together with polypropelene string. The handles are made out os leather thonging.
The little veg cleaner is just 1 piece of knitted bags folded in half and sewn up.
    Hope this helps

M.E. ... that is so funny..

I also give my dead old floor cloths (former tea towels) to my stepdad to use as wiping cloths on his window cleaning round.. :D.. they get used until they are deceased then!!

I buy stuff from charity shop and take it back when finished with too.

In fact I love living here.. we have 10 just down the road.. saves a fortune. I have been known to buy stuff from charity shop wear it until it is almost dead and ebay it for more than I paid in the first place!!

Filling expensive bottles/cereal packets etc with own brand stuff I do too.. then keep the proper 'real' stuff for myself.. says the person who uses john frieda shampoos and get boots/tesco/asda value for everyone else!!

We officially all hate curly kale so I'm off to feed the remainder to the bunnies!
