The cakes look perfect! They need checking at 2.49 pm.
You will need to open the oven, cautiously and verrrry gently press a fingertip into the middle of your sponge. If your fingertip leaves no impression it's probably done, then it's time for the 'drill bit' test. Insert drill bit into centre of cake and remove immediately. If it comes out clean the cake's definitely done.
However, if your finger goes right in and comes out covered in goo, it's not done. Carefully and gently close the oven door and give it another 5 mins before checking again as above. Be careful not to slam the oven door, it can cause your cake to flop.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0
