Just taken them out. Passed the fingertip and drill bit test. :jIf you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

You keep your fork right out of it unless you want your fingers accidentally broken. :whistle:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Fantastic! Well done. Just let them cool slightly in the tin for a couple of minutes and then put them on a rack/ grill pan to cool completely, while you busy yourself with the frosting.

Has anyone mentioned the 'bottoms together' thingy for when you sandwich 'em together with the frosting????
Errr...no! I can see what you mean - flat surfaces together, but then it'd be wobbly? If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Mr B!!!!!!
Hellooooo!
I just got here in time
You are doing BRILLIANTLY!!
They look really good. I guess they are almost/ just done now? Newleaf gave good advice about the finger test. Don't worry about any slightly overdone bits on the edges - you can either leave them anyway ( I do) or cut them off when cool. Sorry I haven't been around - I've been baking too
Ads far as melting chocolate goes, it's too easy to spoil it by overheating in the microwave so I would persevere with the bowl of hot water method - just keep re-boiling the kettle to heat it up. Shouldn't take too long. Keep stirring it too. And while the cake cools , I suggest a cool  while you wait. You - only you- will have stars that can laugh :rotfl:
