i was on a laptop deal at sub £20/month for 24 months.0

OK, but you still have to factor in that £20 for x months against the savings made by moving to Plusnet. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
-
yeah hence moving now as contract has ended
they offered me £6.99 deal but at 18 months and obviously no cash back, although would be less hassle.
however it still £18 + 23 = £41 saving to move to plusnet0 -

But in post 3 you said you are not out of contract'?
Plusnet not only cheaper but vastly better service. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
out of contract as of yesterday so think i'll jump on the band wagon on this £5.99/month
say £5.99x12 = £71.88
less £23 cash back
= £48.88/12 = £4.07/month

once i go online - quidoco - plusnet
sign up to broadband via MAC
just need to get BT to take back the calls and cancel AOL calls i guess?0 -
The current cashback is £28, not £23 (or £38 if you take your calls as well through Plusnet). No free lunch, and no free laptop0

thanks for your help guys
have now ordered and setup as soon as possible, so not sure when that is and what i need to do for my folks now or if it just switches over automatically when turn on computer next etc.
but will ring up aol to cancel account and calls
and call bt to bring back as carrier for calls0 -
Don't cancel AOL now or you will get a gap in your service and have to pay a cease charge of about £25. You have done this in the wrong order. Get your MAC from AOL (5 working days) and then sign up with the new provider.
You will need to set up your router for your new ISP once migration has taken place. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Will repeat my previous advice: be really careful about signing up to Plusnet.
I fell for their advertising (surf as much as you want etc etc) but used up the allowance within 4 days. Add to this their bizarre phone charging system and whereas the advertised cost should have been under £20 I've just had a bill for £99:52 for first months usage. Must be the most expensive package out there. Trading standards here I come, another battle with yet another rip-off company.0
