No reason at all, as long as your line has not already been LLU'd to AOL/TalkTalk, in which case you have to take your line rental back to BT first on a 12m contract in order to switch to any other ISP.
Who is your existing line rental provider?
NB: the £5.99 offer is only applicable to Market 3 exchanges, I assume that you have checked that you qualify? Otherwise it's £11.99.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
thanks
don't quite understand that, could you clarify?
i checked online with postcode and number and says yes for £5.99 one
aol have my calls, and said that if i use the mac to phone them up to cancel the calls and it will automatically revert back to line rental which is BT, is that right?
i am not out of 24 month contract with aol, so does the above apply?0 -
Please can you clarify which is your existing line rental provider-AOL or TT?
You have confirmed that your broadband and calls are with AOL.
You need to establish if your line is LLU'd to TT or not before you do anything else.
Please could you check your exchange name and advise:

If you are not OOC with AOL then you will be charged an early termination fee, which will be the balance of the contract owing up to 24 months.
A MAC does not cancel your calls or line rental, it is only for migrating your broadband.
It's not clear where you want to transfer your line rental (if currently TT) or your call packages to. Your reference to Plusnet mentions only broadband. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
line rental is BT
calls are paid to AOL
this is the bit i don't understand:
"establish if your line is LLU'd to TT "
i want to continue to use BT line rental and want my calls cancelled from AOL back to BT.
and then transfer AOL broadband to Plusnet.
what is TT?0 -
i went on the link above: town = bridgwater0

OK, if you are paying your line rental to BT, then the issue of your line being LLU'd to TT (TalkTalk) does not arise. Bridgwater is a Market 3 exchange, so you can get Plusnet for £5.99 (but you need to sign up by 11/4 to avoid the forthcoming price rise). Quidco cashback is curently £43.
Contact BT to take your calls back to them. Get your MAC from AOL and give that to Plusnet when you sign up.
You might also look at Plusnet's line rental and call packages, which if bundled with the broadband will be cheaper than BT-and increase your cashback.
Bear in mind that Plusnet Value is a 10G capped service and they do practice throttling at peak hours-it's not suitable for heavy users. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
If you already have a BT line, then you'll be OK.
Just be aware that P2P is heavily restricted at all times and gaming is restricted to 2Mbps, no matter what your actual line speed ends up at.Dave. :wave:0 -
cashback via quidco is only £28 for broadband
actually this is for my old folks. i treated them to broadband and laptop deal 24 months ago and now just cutting costs
they are just leisure browsers so will be fine for usage
price hike?0 -
but i don't pay for bills for BT so assume it has to be account holder to call them?
AOL said it is automatic when i ring up to cancel0 -
Yes, Quidco now only £28 for broadband-they've cut it in the last few days.
The price will rise to £6.49 if you sign up after 11/4.
You need to speak to BT to establish what call package you want to onto, don't believe a word AOL tell you-they haven't got a clue.
But remember that if you are still in contract with AOL you will have to pay up your contract to 24 months. On the laptop deals that will be around £30 a month? No free lunch, and no free laptop0
