Showed posts to duty manager. He said Tesco used to sell cd's through Entertainments section (guess he means Direct) online and that if he was buying music that's the way he would do it ... putting them with groceries had caused confusion. Also said Tesco.com is run by Tesco Finance and is different from 'Tesco'. :exclamati
I said fact remains they DO sell them with groceries and customers' only point of contact is through a store.
He refunded to gift card and said I need to take up missing points issue with Clubcard.

Daughter used to do FMC pricing for Tesco and says points assistant was gonna remove may have been just ordinary points for returned cds, not the legit bonus points I had on the receipt - need wait see.

Also assistant hadn't given me the 'top part' of refund receipt which would have shown which items I returned.

An assistant spotted this and offered to track the transaction but the manager said it would take too long - untrue, daughter was there and knows. He said CS line manager would be informed, but considering he was not entirely truthful himself I doubt it.

PS. Thanks, oneday, tried change username but site doesn't allow it, unless anyone knows how? Cheers.

Main thing here is don't waste your time talking to the duty manager, they have no clout whatsoever!

Secondly, quite often the CS person will hang around like a nasty niff trying to railroad the storemanager. Tell him you wish to talk to him in private, point out their terms and conditions, the fact the points clearly were on SEL's and that you are happy for him to check with HO to make sure you are not trying to scam him.

Most times you'll get what you want without any hastle.

Finally, it sounds obvious but learn who the hags and good eggs are in your store and stick to the gooduns and just pass the occasional scowl at the hags :)

I stocked up on a few more CDs and DVDs at one of my local large stores today. 2 x Lily Allen, 2 x Arctic Monkeys, 2 x Kings of Leon, and 2 x Twilight Forks coming to £37. Used a Farmfoods £2.50 voucher so paid £34.50. Got my 2000 bonus points, plus 74 points for the spend, plus 1 for re-using a bag.

This offer was only on chart cds in my store and not on the bargain chart. I bought 2 dvds and got 500 points which were added right away. I am sorry to hear that some of you are having to put up with rude, horrible staff. I have noticed alot recently in many shops that they staff arent as polite and pleasent as the used to be. It really annoys me when staff have a conversation between themselves instead of talking to the customer. Im 27 and find this so rude!!!

Glad it's not just me! I had to put up with this back to the customer thing in Debenhams earlier today, saying they wouldn't accept a voucher which said it could be used in conjunction with other offers. The superviser just dismissed and wouldn't turn round to face me. They did take it in the end after I pointed this out a second time. I'm 27 too, maybe it's an age thing ;).

The tesco offer, it's been great to top up my points a bit with albums I'd have bought anyway. Slightly pleased it's over in a way, or I'd be back looking at what's new this week.

I've had a bit of an annoying experience with them over the weekend.

I went into the store on Saturday to see what they had on the offer. The bargain chart was still labelled up with the SEL's on April 10, so I bought 12 CD's. Sure enough, the points didn't go on, so I walked to CS, and the helpful woman told me to wait a couple of days to see if they'd go on (Despite me going to CS once before and them adding them quibble free, as they knew the SEL's were there in error). She made a note on my receipt for the staff to add extra points if they didn't go on.

Sure enough, I hadn't seen the points by the time I left work today, so I went back. The same woman was at CS and remembered me, although the other assistant told me that she'd called clubcard, and that all points would go on to the next statement in May. Thankfully I took a picture of one of the CD's I purchased, complete with SEL, and a larger picture of the bargain chart shelf, in it's SEL covered glory. I'm just a tiny bit annoyed at the misinformation that comes from CC or the Tesco staff.

I'll wait a month for the points not to appear on my statement and we'll go from there. In the meantime, I'll have to cover £120 on the cost of my holiday because of the store being slow to update their labelling.

They still have a number of PC games with the 250 point SEL's on, which expired on Sunday, although they've removed it from the CD's.
  • Hi Folks

Like most of us I bought a 'few' CD's last month in this promo. In a couple of stores the points were added automatically. In another they were not and Customer Services were happy to manually add them on. Those that were manually added on have now been REMOVED by Tesco's. Does anyone know :
    a) if the points will still come my way as the Ts&Cs stated they would be added in May
    b) say that I send a letter to Tesco asking for them to be added back on (I have the receipts)
    Thanks, Beaker181004

I think this has happened to me with the manually added on points, I only bought 4 cds so 1000 pts. Surely then as they have misdescribed the deal on the SEL at point of sale by saying the points would be awarded for bargain cds, you should be entitled to a refund on the cds? After all the offer was the reason you (and I) bought them.
I would think a phone call with a mention of trading standards was in order, although being a lazy so and so I shant bother!

Waiting for my May clubcard statement, just checked online and my points have not been added yet.

If I don't get them I will NOT be a happy bunny and won't just drop it.

Anyone else got their points added yet??

In most stores my pointsfor CD purchases were visual at the end of the receipt and were added within 24/48 hours. However in one store, they manually added them. These manually added points were then taken off my account last week BUT I am hoping they will go back on as the promo mentioned 'points would be added in May'.....we wait to see. ;)

I think it was pretty much you will have to really fight for the points if you didnt get them straight away. Good luck if you plan to fight for them.
