My opinion for what its worth is that Tesco is using us as his refuse collection service again. This CD was a valentine special that sold very poorly and the stock was earmarked to go back for disposal (so I'm told). I wonder how much Mr T would have to pay to have thousands and thousands of boxes of CD's (non recyclable waste) landfilled? Far cheaper to offer the 'proles' an incentive to do his dirty work for him. Just my opinion of course, but does anyone remember the 1p lightbulbs a couple of years ago that everyone thought was a 'glitch'?

Tesco have been very quick lately at correcting errors and the fact this is still working makes me suspicious. IF its still working tomorrow, I'd be pretty much convinced this is no glitch.

It's weird but I've never seen any of the large retailers I've worked for, including Tesco, operate in this way. I've worked with lots of buyers and merchandisers and none of them are that Machiavellian whilst not being able to do simple maths. Do you think they set up large multi-line promotions like this to off-load a few thousand dodgy CD's which most people on here can't get hold of? Do you have any idea of some of the costs involved in setting up and running promotions like this?

If that was the plan then the least they could do is have them readily available on their website to get rid of them as fast as possible then, rather than having a few hundred sitting in isolated stores scattered around the place depending on people to buy 150 at a time? All a bit hit and miss for a conspiracy theory surely?

It always amuses me the conspiracy theories on these boards, and the fact that there's always somebody willing to justify their actions by making it sound like there's some dastardly plan afoot :rotfl: It doesn't matter what it is, there's always a post on here suggesting some plot.

If they were anything like they're made to sound on this forum sometimes, they'd probably be working for MI5 instead :rotfl: ;)

Personally, I don't think most of the buyers I know could be bothered. I don't think they sit around plotting against the 'proles' as you put it. They don't actually earn THAT much money so most of them may well consider themselves 'proles' at the end of the day.

Tesco certainly don't pay that well - I turned down their last contract offer as I could earn more elsewhere. They don't attract the cream of the crop, and I'd say that most of the retail head offices I know of are ok but subject to a certain level of inefficiency/screw-ups at times. I certainly never met anybody that fiendishly clever working there.

Tesco don't run a bulk buying policy any more! Well most stores don't now anyway.

I've bought 150 of the forever love CD's over the past 24 hours and before anyone lambasts me for not leaving any for others, I've been into the store many times, asked for them to look in the back and bought some on each visit. Anyone could have done the same, and as of 9pm tonight the store still had over 100 in stock and I have no intention of buying any more.

Remember, if you get more than 10k points very quickly, you'll flash up on Clubcard's radar and could possibly lose the points. They'll use the line "not in keeping with the spirit of the scheme" or some such crap. They've even added extra terms to cover themselves for such an issue.

"Tesco shall be entitled to set a limit on the number of points which may be awarded to each Clubcard account in respect of special promotional items on which additional points are awarded."

French, I hope you away with it, but somehow, I think you might be in for trouble with Clubcard for getting 37,500 points over the course of two days.

Thoughts are seeds that to some will grow into real actions. Its always a good idea not to put questionable ideas on a forum as there are always a few who will consider it to be a good idea and may even try it and could potentially land themselves in hot water ie criminal presecution.

Those who buy 12+ CD's or phones or whatever the offer may be at the time, do so at their own fiancial risk, we all know that tesco can be a bit up and down regarding their T&C's. The worst that can happen to them is they end up with their points being removed and having a massive stash of useless CD's but that is their money to risk. Then if they feel they have been wronged its up to the individual to argue the case with tesco.

I dont care what tesco's intentions are, i just dont want anyone trying anything that could get them into serious trouble. There will always be 1 that may try it.

As previous posters have said tesco arent daft and they do read these forums, so yes points offers could stop, it is a possibility but they will only remain if everyone sticks to the rules. Once they pick up on the fact that something dogy might be happening as was the case with coupons - it will stop.
    yes i agree with you
buying 150 is gonna highlight it especially when the clubcard points hit youre account thats just pure greed thats 37500 points the 500 points is meant to be a bonus not a right

Yep running till about the 11th I think. But you will be lucky to find the £1 cd now it seems.

What I do wander is whilst there is some line of thought of greed in buying high volumes of the £1 cd to take advantage of the offer and a concern it may mean tesco pulling the offer. I just wander if there is the same risk of not getting the points if the same volume of offer items were bought over different titles?. Somehow I think that would be thought of as ok?.

Also buying in store still does not show the total point on the clubcard account this morning. When do they tend to go onto the balance?.

Just been to my local store and none on display, asked the SA about it and she said "oh I have a try full of them out back, there being recalled" so I asked if I was allowed to buy them still and she said yes I will go get you one...lol...I said can I have 20, she looked at me and went and got them. I'm not being greedy honest, im getting married next year and figure I could give them as bridal favours instead of them nasty almonds coated in suger and the extra clubcard points will go towards our wedding rings :) thanks op
