Oh my god , that is exactly me, after a bad day Friday i have spent all weekend & now feel rubbish with myself... it's amazing how 1 bad day has undone pretty much all my money saving for this month

I need to learn to do other things to make me feel good. There's so much to do around the house & garden, not all of it free (or even cheap to be fair), but when i do get stuck into the free stuff i feel great, & if i stopped spending on rubbish i'd have the money to pay for some of the non free stuff that needs doing... like central heating & a kitchen!!

Sorry for the long post all, but thanks for listening, i feel so much better for having admitted this out loud!!

Oh gosh.......I think most of us can relate to that shopping rush. I know I certainly can. About 13? years ago I would think nothing of going in Boots on a Saturday morning and spending £30-£40 every weekend on nothing but Shampoo and other offers. It wasn't even as if I was looking good on my spend. :rotfl:But I really ENJOYED it!! Nice new shiny things that looked good on a shelf. However I learned to replace one pleasure with another and I became a very good saver instead - for me it was the LBM of 'Only I can manage my money' and the motivation of getting on the property ladder. It takes time and there is also no point for recriminations........it will just make you feel worse and then you'll feel like you need to feel better again.

With regards to whatever you bought this weekend - can you take any of it back?

butdoineedit, I think all of us has been there at some point - just count this as a minor set back and get back on the saddle, as they say! :)

sneaked another one in today unexpectedly bringing me up to 7 - yeah!

try not to beat yourself up butdoineedit, you sound like you have a real understanding of your issues and the reasons around why you spend which is surely half the battle x

    Hurrah!
    NSD no 4 for me!

I did go grocery shopping but that's a planned purchase that happens every week and doesn't count. Stuck to the list too.
We also went to the garden centres to look for stuff for the garden but couldn't see anything we both liked (slate and edging stuff) so came back not spending 1p!

Do you know, I really think I can do 10 NSDs this month as hoped - who'd have thought!?

Back to school tomorrow - roll on half term! (I'm a teacher!)

    Evening all!

An unexpected NSW for me, taking my total to 6 so far this month. Have resisted the urge to join my friends in the beer garden at our local this afternoon, and went to a BBQ yesterday (taking some homebrew :) ) so haven't spent a penny!

butdoineedit? - dont beat yourself up over it, we've all been there, done that and bought the t-shirt (or too many pretty tops in my case!). This is a good place to let off steam, hope you're feeling better.

OH has really annoyed me today by spending all afternoon in the pub watching the footie, I am currently not talking to him (its very easy not to talk to him when he's snoring on the sofa!). Very tempted to ring Sky and cancel his sports channels - he only got them as he said he'd watch the footie at home .. It wouldn't bother me so much, except we've got his son staying for the weekend, and the poor lad has been bored stiff at home with me all afternoon.

Well done on the troll-zapping!! Cant believe there are such people out there - I'd like to see how they'd cope with only a fiver left to get electric, petrol and milk, then it wouldnt seem so funny.

Going to bed now with my bad mood, see you all tomorrow! :(
Trying to jump back onto the moneysaving wagon ....

Thanks everyone, i feel really emotional at all your support.
I can do it, this is only a minor setback, you are right.

Curlygirl - unfortunately i can't take any of it back. When i first thought i had my lightbulb moment i made a promise not to buy a ridiculous amount of clothes, which i have stuck to fairly well, unfortunately what i do instead is buy groceries & household stuff, which makes it even harder to put a bad day right. Tidied out the cleaning cupboard today as a wake up call & have 9 bottles of washing up liquid & 6 boxes of washing powder (ridiculous considering i live on my own!!) :wall:

I will use the hundredweight of weedkiller i bought today to finally get round to clearing the ivy from the side of my house & hopefully that will take up every spare hour i have & keep me out of the shops!!

Big hugs to you all, your support means so much!! :grouphug:
