Curlygirl - unfortunately i can't take any of it back. When i first thought i had my lightbulb moment i made a promise not to buy a ridiculous amount of clothes, which i have stuck to fairly well, unfortunately what i do instead is buy groceries & household stuff, which makes it even harder to put a bad day right. Tidied out the cleaning cupboard today as a wake up call & have 9 bottles of washing up liquid & 6 boxes of washing powder (ridiculous considering i live on my own!!) :wall:

Well that's not half as bad as buying clothes n stuff! At least you will use the groceries. Tomorrow is another day - the start of another week - start your budget again!

If i learn to control the emotional spending i reckon i could go a year without having to buy another cleaning product!!!
Now there's a motivating thought, i could save a fortune!!!

    Heres to a NSD Monday!!!

    Hi

butdoineedit? - I too have been there with the emotional spending. One of the tricks I learned is to write down everything that I have and use those before I go out and buy other things - my habit used to be toiletries and face products but now I 'go shopping' in my cupboard. There was a great challenge on here last year - The 100 Day Challenge - it's a great way of helping you to unlearn bad spending habits.

I had three NSD's in a row last week and managed one today. That takes me to five of my eight.

Keep up the great work everyone.

Just spotted your sig Urg--moocho congratio on that :T so there really is no excuse for avoiding our night out :D Something to celebrate indeed!
....I use spending as an emotional crutch for just about anything, so i guess even going to the post office will do if i can't spend anywhere else (& i'll guarantee i'll end up in the supermarket buying something out of my postage money & pretending i didn't do it!!) Yup! Seen it before...

I need to learn to do other things to make me feel good. There's so much to do around the house & garden, not all of it free (or even cheap to be fair), but when i do get stuck into the free stuff i feel great, & if i stopped spending on rubbish i'd have the money to pay for some of the non free stuff that needs doing... like central heating & a kitchen!! Tell me about it :o

Am setting a target on here & praying reporting back to you guys will keep me on track!!....Am starting by defrosting 2 rashers of bacon to take my own sandwich tomorrow morning when we meet for breakfast in the canteen, with my sensible head on i can see how buying one is just such a waste of money :A See! You've started already!

Sorry for the long post all, but thanks for listening, i feel so much better for having admitted this out loud!!
We all have to go through this kind of process to fathom out how we get to the next stage--bit like a computer game I s'pose! Weird this should be coming up as I've had the 'learn by your own mistakes' chat quite a lot recently with The Offspring & their finances :o

    Evening all!

An unexpected NSW for me, taking my total to 6 so far this month. Have resisted the urge to join my friends in the beer garden at our local this afternoon, and went to a BBQ yesterday (taking some homebrew :) ) so haven't spent a penny! Show Off :D

butdoineedit? - dont beat yourself up over it, we've all been there, done that and bought the t-shirt (or too many pretty tops in my case!). This is a good place to let off steam,....Totally agree! If you can't share with us--fellow participants--then who CAN you vent to?
....Well done on the troll-zapping!! Cant believe there are such people out there - I'd like to see how they'd cope with only a fiver left to get electric, petrol and milk, then it wouldnt seem so funny.

Going to bed now with my bad mood, see you all tomorrow! :(
I have to admit to getting a bit worked up over the MMD in this week's newsletter :undecided Admittedly it is an emotive subject, but some of the people on there are adamant that their POV is the only one that could be right. I consider myself to be pretty tolerant & prepared to listen to others--it's the way I learn about the world I live in for one thing--& I loathe & detest the fact that some ignoramuses cannot afford others the same courtesy

Forgot to say Hello to Leedsforever earlier & see Blueelephanttrunk is also here so Hi Guys :hello: They're a good bunch on the whole & you'd be hard pressed to find a friendlier crew :p

WOW! I didn't realise the time! So...Another nsd today to go on my total please Solvent :D & nighty-night. I've still got pots in the sink :o so that will take my time up to midnight. I'm so tired I could well fall asleep in me marigolds :(

Hi sweetie, have a big hug, it seems like you need one at the moment

    4.gif.
Don't know what to say about the ex to make you feel better. You must be feeling like crap and it's OK to feel like that, you've just had a real shock to the system.

I am so sorry this has happened today when you seemed to be ready to make a new start again - please, please, please try not to let this put you off what you've determined to do. I really do think that spending is an emotional crutch for a lot of us on here - it certainly is for me, so I know exactly how you feel. Have you thought about joining one of the other challenges on here (think there's a cleaning/household one on here somewhere) to target the actual area you're having a problem with at the moment - I really do think this helps. My real problem is with clothes, I have wardrobes and drawers full of the damn things, so I joined the crazy clothes challenge at the beginning of the year. Someone on there mentioned about black skirts and the amount she had - so I had a proper look I have 15 of the damn things, yes 15, all more or less the same.. Yet I still found myself in M&S a couple of weeks ago, feeling a bit down and looking at a black skirt and telling myself I really needed it....
Hopefully that will show you that you're not alone on here, very far from it and you'll get loads of support to help you through this. If you can, try to come on here every day and have a bit of a chat with us all, that will help you I'm sure.
Really feel for you at the moment, you must be feeling awful.
    Take care

However, this mornings a transport one because we will need to be on a bus or the clockwork orange at some point.

comeoangetaffmabus please alight from my mode of transport
naepukingoanmabus please do not throw up on my bus
yerranoffyplasterhen you are a bit of a pain in the but young lady!!

These all work better if you say them out loud.............

    Have a good NSDing day
These are brilliant, pure dead dopey:j. I'm sure we could use the last one on any passing trolls... they probably would have no idea what the hell we were talking about..... :rotfl:

fedupandskint: well done for another NSD and for avoiding the dreaded chocolate..... think that makes you no 4 now....:j
JES-F1: well done to you for no 4:j.... and doubly well done for avoiding the pub lunch and glass of wine... park and flask of coffee sounds just as good:)
wit40iwtwan: well done for no 6:j... you should be pleased with yourself. Maybe a month without spending anything should be the next challenge?;)
elfen: well done for no 7:j... another one half way through already:)
Dorastar: well done for no 2:j... you are so right, different routines can ruin our NSDs... hoping for lots of NSDs for you next week:)
coffeeholic: well done for no 7 :j- another one doing brilliantly!! Yeah, you missed the troll... but it wasn’t much of one really.. bit of a trollette really:(. Oh dear to not feeling very well.... and double oh dear to dentist appointment tomorrow:(
anonymoose: well done for no 5:j.. just be careful you don’t run out of petrol - that’s even more expensive than filling up the tank:( fingers crossed for lottery next week.:)
Surfbabe: well done for no 2 so far:j - that’s two days this month when the big, bad retailers have not had your money and don’t forget that Easter has got in the way..... keep going, you can get there.:)

saorsie: well done to you for no 7:j.. you’re doing brilliantly....:)
rachelmk: fingers crossed you managed an NSD today - vouchers sounding good. If you OH manages to finish the front garden tidy up, I have another one waiting - not that far away either - if there’s any spare time? ;) Update - well done - you made it, no 4 now :j- and you can definitely get to 10 this month - think positive

boultdj: well done to you for no 7 :j and grrrrr to interwebby problems:mad:.... Troll and lullaby.. hmm.... I could think of more suitable things to sing to it:rotfl:.. And yes, lots of NSDs, as witnessed by the length of this post :o

    And hello to everyone else:
mookiepook: yeah, there are some entertaining posts on here, definitely!! That troll didn’t know what it was doing trying to post on here - we were more than a match for it. Well done for your low spends yesterday, great going, and hope you had an NSD today:rotfl:
nicca: BigMumma’s idea of a stock of cards is a good one :)- I’ve been doing that for some time. I pick up reduced cards and general notelet type cards when they’re reduced as well, only rarely do I have to buy an actual card (apart from children’s ones which are a bit different) . Present boxes are a great idea in theory.... but I always forget where I’ve put them....:o
Nottoobadyet: oh dear, I’m surprised BigMumma hasn’t had a word with you for using the “f” word on here;)...... Hope you enjoyed your drinks with best friend - sometimes you just have to spend - fingers crossed for you for next week:)
jintyb: don’t talk to me about “boredom shopping”... that’s the other reason all my cupboards and wardrobes are stuffed full. Well done on the bargains though. Hope the blanket is all sewn up now and good luck with the knitting - it becomes addictive once you get going properly;)
curlygirl: oh dear to not another NSD:(, but well done for cheaper petrol:)... and I can totally sympathise with the shopping rush of Boots:o....

Phew... that was a mammoth post...... I'm staggered at the amount of NSDs being reported so far this month - well done to everyone:j

I've got another one today to add to the total as well....

Just off to update the front page - see you all tomorrow

    'night
