As for the cards, I try to keep a little stock of general cards that would be OK for friends & also some of those nice notelet type cards that would also be suitable for almost any occasion. It's still only a hand-written letter, but jazzed up a bit with a pretty/comical picture on the front!

Excellent idea BigMumma! I usually ave plenty of kiddie's cards kicking about, but I do need to top up the rest - blank notelets would cover a multitude of sins! :D

I was also thinking of strating up a present box, but after reading that article, I think I'll stick to baking various cakes for people! (Though do need to think of an alternative for those pressies I post!)

PureDeadDopey - I still can't think of any put downs that can be posted! They all seem to have four letter words in them! ;):p

no NSDs this weekend, bit of a failure! yesterday was my best friends birthday so we went for drinks (at sam smiths mind so at least they were cheap), then today I need to do a quick bread and milk top up. Poo.

    Bring on next week!

NSD yesterday , that makes a total of 5 now :j.

I wasn't planning to go out spending today...though DH said that he needed to get petrol before heading off for Leeds this morning...so may do some on-line shopping tonight (re-order pre-payement prescription and more pads for my TENS machine)...thus fitting in as much of my spending in on one day as I can. In fact, I might just nip out to get some milk and veg too, so hopefully making tomorrow an NSD...possible do you think?!

    Enjoy the lovely day everyone.

Have a read of THIS. Someone posted the link on another thread, but the article is oh so pertinent to us on here!
See? We're not as barmy as folk would have us :D

OMG!! That is a brilliant article, matbe we should get the author to join us on here!:D
I must confess tho - cos OH is unwell and off food, I went to Matalan today and spent the £20 we would have spent on our Sat Night Takeaway
I am not bad at not shopping, but every so often the urge to spend is overwhelming. That article has made me realise I need to find a strategy to help me avoid "boredom shopping" which I thought I'd overcome!
On the plus side tho I bought jeans, a lovely cardi, 2 t shirts and a necklace for £45. I had a vchr for 20% off so it was £37 less takeaway money so it only cost £17 IYSWIM! Logic, eh?;) In the olden days, when I had a billion credit cards and no conscience I would have spent £45 on a single top without batting an eyelid :o

Off to Mums now, Ive finished all my knitted squares for my doggy' balnket so my Mum is going to help me sew it up ( Im learning to knit)

Have a great day all !:A

NSD 6 for me today. Am busy doing nothing today. Went to local garden centre which was heaving, bought some things I needed for my under 5's craft group but can't count that as not my money:).

Watched some old videos yesterday of sister & me baton twirling from 1995/6. Remembered it like it was yesterday. I feel old now:(. Brought back good memories though:).

Managed to stay in today and keep myself busy and not go to the shop to pick up some spring onions and chocolate that would have turned into buying more than that alongside a new watering can

Thanks for the artice BigMummaF - I realised this myself over the last year when I hardly bought any new clothes for myself when doing the £100 on clothes in a year challenge. The author appears to be in a financially good place to begin with however it is the realisation of consumerism that hits home the most like it did for me. Suddenly realised I didn't need to buy everything for ever reason going.

Felt a big craving to go to the shops today but glad I didn't and managed another NSD!
