Middle lane hogs!!!!

I know that people will have things to say about this, but I have a license and until the day comes that it becomes the law I will continue to use the other lanes at will (admittedly not below the speed limit). After all the highway code is a set of guidelines, not laws.
Anyway, I'm off to Asda now, a trip in which i will happily drive up the middle or even outside lane of the m6 for a few miles if i wish. :rotfl:
Your opinion about your lane discipline is wrong. Additionally, you'll find that the Highway code does indeed contain laws.
Please keep driving the way you do, though. the sooner you get 12 points and banned uinder totting up rules, the better for the rest of us.0 -

I joined the M60 towards Bury I was in lane 3 out of 4 and she was in lane 2 out of 4 she then decided she wanted to overtake the car infront of her but she obviously didn't look to the side of her and nearly took the side of my car out!! I beeped my horn at her and pulled into lane 4 and carried on my journey. She then come racing up my backside yet again thinking I would move out of the way WRONG, I sat there doing 70mph just to annoy the cow she tried undertaking me on several occasions where i sped up slightly to close the gap between me and the other road user in the other lane. I did this until it was my turn off and then gave her a little wave.
I don't know how the hell she didn't see me I have a Jeep!!! I don't really like people who sit up my backside either I have been tempted to slam on as I have upgraded brakes but wouldn't want the damage to my car.
It is usually polite to pull into the 4th lane if you know someone wishes to overtake the vehicle in front of them and needs the room to do so and you have a clear lane to the right in order to do so.0 -

One day you'll do your little trick with an unmarked police car. I'm looking forward to your rant thread already0 -
Near me, the motorway changes from a two lane to a three lane road at the nearest junction. The signposts clearly state that the slip road becomes the inside lane, so there is no need to pull out into the middle lane if the inside lane is clear.
Countless slow moving drivers just pull out into the traffic in what is now the middle lane, continuing to tootle along at a slow speed when there is nothing in the new inside lane. It causes problems as drivers in the middle lane have to slow down and try and get round them, and then I'm stuck on the inside wondering if I should undertake them or just tootle along at their speed or try and get into the middle then outside lane to overtake them.
I get more irritated at the number of drivers that can't indicate at roundabouts. When you meet someone head on and they are signalling right, you have to stop to give way which is fair enough. However, then the driver sails on past you as they were really going straight on, and you're left sitting there like a muppet waiting for no reason. I know it's a trivial thing, but it really irritates me!Here I go again on my own....0 -

I agree. While most of what is written in the highway code is not the law, ignoring it can be construed by the police as driving without due care.0 -
and I was talking not about a two lane, or a three lane, but a four lane motorway.
I had an experience recently, I was in the 2nd lane from the left, could have moved over I suppose, but the very left lane was one which would filter off at the next junction so didn't bother and there was a car in that lane further up anyway.
Behind me I could see a car catching me up in the same lane, whoever it was starting flashing lights in that "move over now" type of way. Bearing in mind that there are two other lanes further to the right as me, and this wasn't a busy time of day, I stayed put. (oops arn't I bad, give me three points now!)
Anyway, this person moved into the next lane, and at the same time the person I mentioned earlier also pulled out as they obviously didn't want the next exit either.
But the best bit was this person in front, for whatever reason, decides to pull out into the lane the flasher was now in, at roughly the same time the flasher was giving me the two fingers, forcing him to move lanes again, might have been avoided if he wasn't speeding or attempted to slow down, but there's another mystery.
It wasn't funny really, it could have resulted in a nasty accident, but there are four lanes to use, I don't get why we have squash into the one on the far left.0 -

They drive in the right (not overtaking or going any faster than those in he left). The only reason they are in the right is because they want to turn right about five miles down the road. :mad:Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

Please throw your car keys in the bin and never go near a car, even as a passenger. Buses and trains are for you.
There's nothing wrong with my driving thank-you. I am mearly asking a question about whether the principle of spreading out a bit on a four lane moterway would work. It does in other countries like the USA, and I have driven there too!0 -
SallyForth wrote: »The overtaking rule and keeping to the left in the Highway Code works just fine on two-lane motorways, which I think is what the ruling was designed for. But when you get to more than two lanes, there should be a revision in my opinion. I have stretch of motorway near where I live which is four lanes wide. I really don't get why we should all cram into the most left-hand lane, when there a three other empty ones to use. Surely it's safer to spread out a bit?
This comment just shows where the problem lies.0
