Just follow these simple rules here and our motorways will be a better place for all.....

Where the hell did that rubbish come from best laugh I have had for ages.

Most motorways have 4 lanes, each lane has a designated purpose. Upon entering the motorway you should get into the correct lane immediately.

Car Lane - All cars and vans, including cars towing caravans must use this lane at all times

Some motorways have one less lane than normal. In these circumstances you must occupy the rightmost lane. Since there is no lane for emergency vehicles they must share the car lane and give way to cars

Driving on a motorway is relatively simple. So long as you stay in the car lane all other vehicles except Transit vans must give way to you

Signs on gantries can safely be ignored. They are for lorries only, this is why they are so high up.

The other night I caught up a CLOT who was doing 60 in the middle lane of an empty motorway. I was on the inside lane and so indicated, overtook via the outside lane, indicated and moved back into the inside lane. At which point, said CLOT started to flash their headlights at me. Maybe it was Meritatens?

"Entitlement" is from the driver who reasons that - because they are going at the speed limit (obviously this doesn't apply to your example of someone doing 60) - nobody else should ever overtake them, so they have no need to move into the "slow" lane. They typically take pride in making things difficult for all of the law-breakers who are speeding.

They also believe their speedo is 100% accurate. :D

why not - THEY arent breaking the law are they?
They are causing an obstruction and are not driving with due care and attention.
So yes, they are breaking the law.

they are in the middle lane which means they are passing drivers in the inside lane and leaving the outside lane for overtaking within the speed limit.

This is about drivers who are in the middle lane and NOT passing drivers on the inside lane because a) there aren't any; or b) traffic on the inside lane is going faster.

so they are supposed to speed up to seventy?
No. They are supposed to drive on the inside lane unless they are overtaking slower traffic. Having overtaken the slower traffic, they should move back to the inside lane.

So anyone care to admit to taking the racing line on a motorway?

(Albeit at silly o clock in the morning when its dead quiet)
