Good morning all!! And a beautiful morning it is too! :D

I've spent £59.06 so far - and a lot more in Sainsbury, but I can't find that receipt at the mo (it included 2 presents and 3 items of clothes, so I can't just take the figure off my bank statement)

We're off to Cornwall tomorrow. I have a £10 off £50 at Sainsbury voucher that I am taking with me, as it is only valid next week. I'm not taking much food with me - fresh stuff from the fridge, cereals, crisps, wraps and Aldi pain au chocolat. 6 of us in the car, a pushchair and a highchair and birthday pressies for DS1 means not much room for food!:rotfl:

Car needs repairs costing almost £3k (eek!!!!:eek::eek::mad::eek::eek::eek:) so belts WILL be tightened! We do have the money, but I wanted to put it on the mortgage :(, so I need to rein OH's spending in (he commutes daily by train - cups of tea here and there and Krispy Kreme donuts are his weakness - and he buys lunch if I don't make it for him - which I haven't been doing in the hols.) £13.50 spent so far like this - it all adds up - which I need to make him see!!

I shan't be reading next week - no internet access - so will see you all again on the 19th, I think (when kids are back and I'll have time to catch up on the posts!!)

Budget includes spends out on snacks and takeaways - so must try hard next week to keep holiday spirit without spending too much!

I managed to get a couple of cartons of mushrooms whoopsied on Wed evening, which I made into rather yummy soup yesterday for lunch, today's lunch and a spare carton for tomorrow. All for €1 of mushies and about €0.50 other ingredients.

Otherwise, I have spent a grand total of €8 so far this month (I didn't count the weekend as that was from the "Holidays" budget, as we were away, and it was low anyway). Ikea meatballs and oven chips for dinner tonight.

I must do a large shop over the weekend though, as lots of staples are gone and I need loads of fruit and veg. But I seem to be ok on lots of expensive stuff, like cheese and butter. So hopefully it will be bulky rather than expensive.

Afternoon all :) well, after my awful day yesterday I am feeling slightly better and I managed to save half of the chinese food to go into the freezer for another day.

It will be a spend day for me today as I am going to pick up a freegle rug and need some liquids to keep my chest clear so would really like something nice and fruity. I will stop into Morissons to get it. But im hoping to spend less than a fiver.

Don't need anything else really. Will maybe stock up this week on some tinned fruit as it lasts longer than the fresh stuff- very nice especially the stuff in juice not syrup.

Have a good day all :)

wssla00 - hope you feel better soon.

long tall sally - same here only I came down to the Midlands. Where I come from a 'cob' is what Lesta refers to as 'mardy' - you can imagine my confusion as an 18yo student - and the strange offers I got asking for floury baps :rotfl::o That really made me laugh!

I do need to go shopping today but where is my shopping list? Think OH has "tidied" it away somewhere!

How to tell you're becoming too obsessed with the grocery challenge? When you book a holiday & one of your first thoughts is 'well that's a weeks shopping money I won't have to spend!'

I'm not going to cheat though, so could I please lower my budget this month to £90?

£26.98 spent in Mr Ms today, that includes a X-stitch mag, some sandwich bags and cling film. Got some Branston baked beans and Bernard Matthews turkey ham on BOGOF, as well as the tuna (4 tins for £2), so some good deals...didn't see any whoopsies that I fancied, never mind needed! Strayed a little from my shopping list, but much better than I would have been in days gone by. Easily would spend £40 to £50, so quite pleased with my spends.

Hopefully I can manage to stay under target this month...the first this year...but have to start somewhere! :D

Been washing lots of seed trays and plant pots today, so I can sow some seeds. It is great to be able to leave the pots outside in the sun to dry today! Might not get seeds actually sown today, as I have to post a parcel and then visit a friend. Everything is ready for sowing tomorrow now...slow but steady...that's me!

Like greent, we're off on holiday tomorrow, in a cottage for a week (with DS for 1 night and DD4 and her 2 children for 3 nights), so will not be here until 18th (more likely 19th).

No grocery spends today, just car expenses (petrol + cleaning). I ought really to have washed the car with a bucket and sponge - I always used to, but when I'm in old granny mode I find it a bit too much.

The grocery spend is going OK I think. I estimated £4 a day, and am a little bit under that at the moment.

Because we'll be self-catering I aim to continue the challenge while we're away (obviously with a bit of flexibility!), so will take a separate purse with allocated grocery money and see how we get on. Will take a box of storecupboard basics, also a loaf (which is in the breadmaker at this moment) and my own bread knife!

See you all when we get back.
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!
