If I find out who is responsible for giving me the bright idea of making a quiche they'd better run fast!
I'm guessing that doing hlaf lard half butter instead of all butter as I'm doing stops it turning into a crumbly mess???
You know how you can fix the odd break/hole in pastry with a spare bit? I'm having to assemble mine jigsaw style in the dish, lol.
I've got a bit of pastry left, and my DS loves lemon curd jam tarts - only when I make them they come out like some kind of toffee - can anyone tell me how to do them properly please? I'd really appreciate it as he's so good I'd love to make them for him.

Afternoon All,

*hoovered the downstairs
*done the handwashing
*cleaned everything from the kitchen worktops and cleaned the lot(with a mix of water, vinegar, lemon juice and lavendar oil).
*cleaned the oven
*cleaned the microwave(yuk)
*cleaned the bin(even yukker)
*fed the kids lunch
*cleaned the front room
*managed to get ds on the potty twice more - no accidents today:T.
Needless to say I am now totally knackered and am stiing here having a browse. I have some soup in the fridge which I need to heat up for my lunch, dont know what to have with it though. Time to get the BM out from the dark corner where it has been hiding since we moved. I darent make a loaf as I'll eat it all in a day and the weight watchers plan will go right out the window. I can make some yummy dinner rolls though and freeze them, that way I can have one a day with my soup at lunchtime.
Been on the phone for ages trying to pay a bill and its one of those b****y stupid automated payment services. Damned thing wont recognise my postcode and has asked me to repeat it 8 times so far , I'm hanging up.
I really ought to clean the toys in thekids rooms today but cant be bothered right now so am off to continue my browse.

Kiwichick,
Nosey question, whereabouts in Bucks are you? We're in Berks! Slough to be exact (bring on the Betjeman jokes!!!!!). We've been looking into Berks as a possible place for us to move too.

Hiya ,
We are in a small village called Stewkley, about 6 miles from Leighton Buzzard, 8 from Aylesbury and 5ish from Bletchly. I LOVE it here. We only moved in on the 22nd of May and were made to feel at home straight away. I dont know if thats the small village mentality or not but its something that really reminded me of NZ. The schools locally or FANTASTIC and my kids aged 1, 3 & 4 have all made friends quickly.
If there is anything I can help with, I'll do my best.

Well I've had a grotty morning!!!
Apart from one brief stop for coffee, which I couldn't drink, I've spent the whole time dealing with maggots!!!! Yuk yuk yuk!!!
Went to bring the bin in after binmen had emptied it and there were maggots all inside, on the lid, up the sides etc. God I felt sick. They weren't there yesterday at 7.30 when I took rubbish round. DH says he wouldn't have seen anything when he took the last of the rubbish out about 11 and took bin to road. And he forgot to turn the wheelie bin liner in, so i've had to deal with that covered in them. I wouldn't mind but I keep the bin really clean, wrap all rubbish, use a liner and the bin almost never smells at all, not even in the hottest weather. And now the shame of it!!:o Anyway I've used countless kettles of boiling water, over one bottle of bleach, loads of starclens, jeyes fluid, and a pack of washing soda. Bin is clean and maggot-free. I am showered, hair washed and scrubbed! Old clothes worn for the exercise are five-times bagged along with contaminated liner and god only knows how many pairs of my son's disposable gloves (he's a policeman, but prefers to supply his own quality gloves!) and I am now taking the whole lot to the local refuse centre! It ain't going back in my bin. I feel hungry but looked at food and no way. This may be the start of me getting thin again!
Sorry for rant I'm now off to dump rubbish. Maybe I should put one more bag round it all?:rolleyes:You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0
