Blimey, you bunch of chatterboxes! ... It's a good job I didn't come back on here after leaving the office yesterday, or I might not have got the early night I badly needed ... Did some washing, RSVP'd to a wedding invitation, got an early night, and am feeling quite refreshed this morning :D ... Catznine, I sympathise with your faulty piping ... I had some stern words with housemate last night ... We have a leaky pipe in the bathroom which he keeps putting off doing anything about ... The only way to prevent a flood in the living room below is to (a) rig up a flood prevention contraption which needs emptying every 10 minutes (leak is in an awkward place, so a bucket isn't suitable) and (b) turn off the water whenever it's not actually in use  ... It's also ruined the water pressure in the shower, and the loft ladder is permanently out on our tiny landing so the stopc0ck can be accessed every 5 minutes  ... This causes a bit of an obstruction as I'm TRYING to move crates and boxes around to prepare for my house move ... He wants to leave it till he gets around to getting a new bathroom! (he's been "getting around to a new bathroom" - and kitchen and boiler and windows - since before I moved in FOUR YEARS AGO  ) ... I think I've now persuaded him to call a plumber! ... Much as I love my housemate, I'm really counting the days until the paperwork goes through on my flat! ... Anyway ... plans for today are (1) work, (2) another 2 loads of washing (while emptying the leak catcher (which also happens to be my favourite casserole dish) every 10 minutes (3) cook up some fresh filled pasta I got at bargain price yesterday from the Co-op (4) do some more decluttering (5) get another early night ... Hope everybody's well ... I'll catch you later ... Rzl xx

Morning all, what were you lot on last night.

Lillibet I'm sure Kaz has enough fence left over for me to shove some in your SIL's direction too :D

The brain has now gone and I can't remember what anyone has posted so hugs to all that need them.

My legs are a little better this morning, I'm quite surprised as I was expecting to pay for yesterdays expedition for a few more days yet. My foot does hurt though, I tidied up last night so the house doesn't look too bad and the worst room in the house is my bedroom which I can't touch until the weekend.

I will get DS to get the breadmaker down for me when he gets up as I could use some nice home made bread today and I must clear some more of the washing mountain.

Pooky, as I mentioned before, I did a mental list of Avatars jumping fences, to get me to sleep. Your Panda was definitely there!

    Good Morning All

Well theres seems to be a lot of productivity out there but its def not happening in the Essex House.

Did treat myself to a lie in -8am. And hoped to be bathed dressed and some washing in by 9. Instead am still sitting here in my pj's as phone hasnt stopped rining with work calls since I got up. Oh well never mind, hopfully can get it mostly out of the way this week so can really enjoy some days out with the children next week. Luckily at their ages, 11 & 7 they do occupy themselves quite well.

Have got to type something up urgently then going jump in and have a quick bath and staighten hair. Will then have a route around in the freezer for something for tonight before heading off to Makro. Need to look at the school uniform that have so far bought and write a list of what is needed and head down to the uniform shop. Think will put off buying the trainers till next week.

Maybe I'll even get round to starting some ironing as havnt touched the mountain that has been caused by going on holiday.

Well I hope everyone has a good day.

By the way - Kyle - it can be hard work but it will be worth in. Reading your note reminded me we did this with dd who wouldnt go to sleep on her own. It only took 3 days and it worked but we did have to warn the neighbours.

I don't know what we were on, but OMG it was effective!!

Just popped in to say hello, am popping straight out again, 'cos I really need to do some REAL work. ( But I much prefer last night's version!!:rotfl: )

Hope everyone has the day they want, whether productive or lazy :D

Kyle I just wanted to add that your health visitors advice on leaving your little one to cry for that long seems a little harsh. I used controlled crying with my DD and it doesn't advise leaving them for that long.

If you pick up the Gina Ford book it gives clear directions on how to do it, I think it only took 3 days to get my DD to sleep all night on her own. Theres also a thread all about controlled crying on the families board.

    Morning everyone:hello:

Kyle we used controlled crying on ds1 when he was about 9 months. The hv recommended leaving him to cry for 10 mins then going in to the room but NOT picking him up and saying 'it's time to sleep now, you're alright' or words to that effect, then leaving the room. If he still cried (he did) we were to leave him for 15 mins and do the same thing - 'go to sleep now' etc. We increased the time we left him by 5 mins each time. It took 3 nights to break his habit of waking and crying. It was quite traumatic but well worth it. We never had a problem with him waking again and the subsequent 2 children were subjected to the same treatment ! They were better but I think that's because we knew what to do. Of course with your lo being a bit older it will take a bit longer and be more stressful, but you're getting there so hang tough:)

DD seems recovered from her bout of sickness so we all got a good night's sleep last night. Haven't managed to catch up on the end of yesterday's thread, partic the lists of names. I did think of loads more after I'd finished.

Plans today- finish catching up on here, go to library with Thriftlings (and toyshop:rolleyes: ), make some bread and possbly weetabix cake.
