I've been a reader/lurker of the daily thread for some time now well before I was brave enough to join up! I do not post very often because of what seemed to me to be a clique. Some people get acknowledged by the "bosses" and some dont and I would hate to be one of ones who didnt all the time - although bless them they seem not to care. Anyway if you arent one of the "chosen few" then I would recommend you try other boards - I have been trying to lose weight and find that thread really supportive.

Anyway just a thought and I know that the vast majority on here are lovely people with not a nasty bone in them.:j

Feeling rather low at the moment as my tonsilitus is not clearing up and I now appear to have a chest infection to boot. I havent felt this ill since before i had DD and gave up smoking :( . Have just been relaxing all day now I have to get on and do something. DH has taken DD to grandmas for abit so I can get everything sorted for tomorrow.

If I feel this bad tomorrow I'll have to go back to the Drs, fortunately wonderful grandma has said that DD can go there even if I dont go into work so that one pressure taken off my shoulders though it makes me feel bad as though I not being a good mummy because all I want to do is lie on the couch and sleep  . Being silly I know must be the lack of sleep from coughing.

Havent read the thread yet so will go back and do that now, but I noticed Queenie has posted her recipe for Everyday biscuits as I scrowlled down, if you've not tried them please do they are so delish. :D

Hugs to everyone who needs them today

    Good afternoon everyone,

Cant remember what everyone has put today, so hope everyone has had a lovely day, although i must say WELL DONE to Ruby for passing her exam, and another WELL DONE to Queenies quail, we have been waiting for the egg laying to start for ages!!!!!!

Well, had a lovely morning at the car boot, managed to get some more cheap books, including Gillian McKeiths you are what you eat cookbook for 50p!!!! Also got some toys that the childminding ones will love, so very pleased there. Then took the children to the big park in Plymouth for a couple of hours, they played, i started to read one of my new books, and then we went for Sunday lunch at McDonalds!!!!! We ate it in the car park next door, and in the car next to us was a car with a dog in it, no windows open, just a slight opening on the sun roof. We all got upset, so i went into all the shops nearby and asked them to put out an announcment to get them to let the dog out, its so hot at the moment and i hate seeing things like that. Must admit, we didnt wait to see as my car was right next to it and i didnt want the owner to get nasty with me, but the people in the shop did say they would make sure they got the dog sorted out.
We then went to see my friend who has just got back from a weeks holiday, so it was lovely to see her and her family again.
We are now at home relaxing, well i am, the children are playing outside on their bikes!!!!!
Hope everyone has a lovely evening,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

:(:(:(:(:(:(:( I am really saddened to read your post and genuinely disappointed if OS has become the place which you describe.

I'm not aware of any "bosses" but, yes, I can see how you may think there is a clique.

Thank you for taking the time to write down your observations, because if even one person is feeling this way, and you clearly do, then perhaps it is time to re-focus on how we all come across in our posts and that can only happen if we are aware that perhaps we've lost that welcoming, friendly, helpful approach we pride ourselves on.

I know OS today has moved forward in a very positive way from when I first joined, and, if honest, I can relate to how you feel when I joined. But, please persevere, it takes time to become familiar with people in real life and on a forum that can be even harder to a certain degree, simply because there are no facial expressions, tonal emphasis and sometimes even the smilies don't convey they intended meanings depending on others perceptions/interpretations of them.

Is really is truly saddening when someone fresh to joining chooses to post so early their disappointment in the forum. But, it's also very refreshing because it means we can do something about it if we are coming across in the wrong way and address the balance.

Not everyone can get along all of the time - c'est la vie! - but, most of the people get along most of the time and that, on a forum with so many members, is something to feel proud of and I hope you will one day too.

    hi sankeygirl,

i don't know what's going on with this thread today, the os board is normally the best place to be in my experience, i often post on shop don't drop and grabbit, but os is my favourite!

i wouldn't let anyones comments put me off posting, sometimes, alot of os's do go unmentioned, but it is never meant to be malicious. i would continue to post even if no one else noticed me, it is the sharing of each others os thoughts that matter.

    newbie's are always welcome xxxxxxxxxxx

ps sorry queenie i have cross posted with u

taplady - ouchie!!! Poor OH!!! Glad he's feeling less self-amputating today :o

dorry - aww, bless your heart for remembering my chook :D She's doing great! Still no hard shell eggs, given up expecting any now, but, she's still incredibly endearing in her behaviour :D:D:D

snoozer - glad to hear you took sage advice and rested! :T Brilliant news on your Tesco's vouchers :T :T

    jockettuk - :j :j Congratulations on the house news!!!!! :j :j Enjoy your Kentucky ;) :D

catowen - Great bargains!!! :T Aww, how sweet of you to sort out that poor woofer :( Well done and I completely understand your reasoning re: not wanting to be there when the owners returned :o As for the quails ... so far the daily routine has been: 2 - 1 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 2 - 2 :j (that final 2 score was for today, just grabbed them :D ) So, not bad for one week's haul from just 2 hens ;):D

tootles - I'm still sending those posi vibes!!! Your quilting projects and card projects sound wonderful!! Ahh, yes, er ... :o ... hmm, I know what you mean about UFO's (un-finished objects) and can well relate to the 3yr quilt ... took me 10yrs to complete my first ever X-stitch project of any real size :o:o:o What sort of fabric are you looking for? (Oh and by the way those !!!!! with my 'spotty' comment ... referred to the pinpr!cks to the forefinger from hand quilting ;) Didn't occur to me it would be a no-no :naughty: word :o )

Wowsers it's muggy here now. Mind you it was 28 degrees earlier. Pity I struggled with the washing yesterday, today it would have dried really quickly! Here's to tomorrow being good drying weather and tonight to having a storm and clearing the air! (Don't want much do I!)

MIL is here for the w/e, she spontaneously started to water my garden this morning with the hosepipe, as where she lives (Thames Valley water area) hosepipes are banned ... she freely admitted it was for the novelty value :)
Not knocking it ..... meant one less thing for me to do .. and she's done some weeding also :)

I went to a fabric shop yesterday and bought some beautiful material for a hall door curtain and curtains for the window in the hall ... 10.25yds of the stuff! ... coming to a grand price of over £200  . However, due to the length of the drop, if I'd attempted to buy the curtains, I'd be talking at least double the cost. So, this morning in an attempt to being motivated about it all, I laid the material out ready to match the pattern (a bit scared of this, as whilst I've matched patterns before, it's been with easy to match stuff iyswim) .... anyway the upshot is .... the material came from 2 rolls, and it's two different colours .... sigh ... so, off we traipsed the 20 miles to take it back and of course they're shut on a Sunday. Most frustrating. Ah well, I know what I shall be doing on Tuesday this week.

Bought 4lbs of apricots from the market yesterday, 40p per lb, sounded good to me ... so thought I would make preserve with it ... printed off a Delia recipe and prepped it last night ... anyway DH decided he wanted to give it a go ... so duly encouraged him and gave him the necessary implements ... went upstairs to do the curtain stuff ... came down to discover burnt jam :( .. so I do wonder if the thread about cost of homemade jam includes the wastage when burnt ;) ... he was most put out, bit like a kid who makes a mistake ... never mind, we've now made some experimental apricot toffee, and at MIL's suggestion added bicarb to some of it, to turn it in to a honeycombed toffee thing ....

Anyway, 2lbs of apricots left ... so we shall give it another go tomorrow.

Right, must get ready to go out as DH and I are going to attempt to go and see POTC, after our disasterous attempt a couple of wks ago which resulted in 2 broken cars and wasted tickets ... wish us luck!

Tootles - I hope you had a good afternoon, I tend to appear overconfident when actually fairly shy. I just love hearing about your quilting. It's something I would love to work out how to do. I've got as far as DH buying me a simple book from the US which I'm currently reading.

Finally, Cha97Michelle .... sit down and put your feet up.

Have a good evening all ...

    Good evening all!

Just haven't had time to post today, also nothing interesting has happened, just "things" that have taken up time!!:rotfl:

Have skimmed read, but now can hardly remember what is happening to who! So ((((hugs)))) to all that need them, hope all the poorly people feel better soon, all the tired ones get some decent sleep and feel refreshed, and the newbies WILL feel welcome! I have posted sometimes and felt certain posters ignore me, but then realised I'm just being stupid. I honestly don't think anyone on here is that petty or nasty. Just sometimes it's hard to remember when you get to the end!!!:D

Unless I've missed you, you haven't posted today Kaz, will be out in the morning but WILL do my 2 hours of flylady, compare notes later tomorrow? For any newbies, look at the old flylady challenge moggins set us a while back. Kaz and I both have let it slide somewhat and she's invited me to join her next week in trying to get things back on track!!:o

Must go, was only supposed to be on for 10 minutes, but I had to check Mrbadexample and his cake first!! That guy certainly is brave, doing all that with an audience and posting pictures!! But he does so well, everything so far has worked!!

Final thought Nelski, be very careful complaining to your boss, she might have a bit of the Madam Whiplash about her!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :D:D

Dorry that was a lovely post and sorry to have just quoted just a little bit but I totally agree. I liketo think nobody on OS is malicious and if they are well more fool them (and anyway we have moggins and twink as bouncers)

I must admit I tend to get ignored most of the time (even by by the "bosses" SG:D and yes i know what you mean:rolleyes: ) but I put that down to the fact I am probably not posting anything worth picking up that day:D - which I guess for me is most of the time:rotfl: I am not the greatest OSer - I dont have chickens, I dont have a breadmaker, I eat out a lot to save cooking:o , I spend far too much on handbags and shoes, I do however have a slow cooker and have picked up loads of little tips on this board that have helped me in my hectic life but more importantly I have made some lovely friends on here:A

Stick with it its worth the effort even if it does take a while:rotfl:

BTW any OS tips for turning blue hair to a nice normal brunette? (now watch me be ignored!!!)

love and hugs and remember its only a chat forum afterall
