Livinginhope - Don't stop posting - there are loads of times when we all get ignored - but none of them intentionally. I love reading about everyone's day, I might not have anything to say about what they've done etc but I enjoy it none the less.

    Hope you're feeling better soon.

Well I've cracked on - cut DH's hair and helped DD2 (8) make the batter for toad in the hole....she's also shelled the peas and fried the onions for onion gravey - she never normally wants to help so I really enjoyed her asking. She wants to make bread tomorrow - I'll do a dough in the BM and let her do a bit of kneading and shape some rolls.

I've just noticed that DD's have both made their beds too - with fresh linen - without being asked.......doesn't it worry you when they do that.....I smell a rat - and I bet it's going to cost money! :rotfl:

    Hi everyone

It's been a quiet weekend in the SnowyOwl nest. It's been raining most of today - it does that a lot here though. I've been a bit lax with my housework and stuff - am v.lazy indeed. I think I saw a thread about having a flylady challenge in August - I need to join in with that. Moggins, get your loudhailer and whip ready, I am missing them!!

Is anybody following the thread by Mr Badexample who is making a cake today? I am sitting here waiting for him to post a picture of the final result - I think he's on the filling and topping part - his first ever cake and he's doing a chocolate and yoghurt sponge!!

Tootles - I hope your venture to your OH's bowls club went ok. Like you I cannot stand that sort of thing, never know what to say, feel anxious and the look on my face makes it obvious I am uncomfortable. Like you too I am a bit short on friends, specially since my move from England to NI. It is hard to make friends when it doesn't come naturally. I hope the quilting strategy worked and that people came up to you to chat.

Livinginhope - hope you are feeling better. Chron's is no joke. Please keep coming back! I think we've all experienced times when our posts seem to have gone unnoticed - it's not personal and not intentional. I think we all know you now though:D:D!!

Pooky - I don't know the answer to the "half a pig" question. I would expect it is v.good value though. Poor piggy though... - sorry not trying to make you feel bad, that's what pigs are for, but I have seen little babies being born and they are so absolutely soft, pink, innocent and gorgeous. Sorry sorry sorry doing it again! Go for that deal, £64 would not go very far in the supermarket or high street butcher.

Ruby Pudding - well done on passing your exams ya brainbox! Makes you feel good doesn't it, that little slip of paper.

Jo - welcome back! Don't suppose you've seen R.Mac or MushyPeas on your travels?

Right, I'm off to see Mr BadExample's cake.

    Bye all.

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a good Sunday!

Am very tired today.Had to do the disco last night with DS1 as OH was in agony with his back/leg and didn't get to bed till 2.30:eek: had been planning a relaxing evening at home:rolleyes: then was up at 6am as was doing a carboot!(must be mad!)
made £35 at the bootie for the holiday fund.

As he was in so much agony OH rang NHS direct who said he was doing too much and needed to rest, they said he's on the strongest painkillers he can have.Last night he was ready to have it amputated to get rid of the pain!
but today after a rest he's not too bad.
Had a bit of a rest this afternoon but couldn't sleep as the phone rang and the someone was at the door:rolleyes:

Never mind got a day off tomorrow so plan to take it easy then!

    have a good evening all!:D
    Do what you love :happyhear

OOOh this is my 200th post!! :j

 Now you come to mention it ... eggs + recipes ... yuppers ..... ;)

    Oooh, CongratUlations!!!! :T :T :T

livinginhope - ((hugs)) sorry you are having a bad day :(
Glad you have joined our daily thread, we always enjoy meeting new people. I think moggins was trying to say that here in OS (Old Style) we endeavour to be supportive to one another and not critical. After a while, when people get to know one another, then you do note quite a bit of banter between those are very familiar so I can understand if that comes across as confusing :o It's not exclusive, and I'm sorry you feel that you haven't been acknowledged before now

Coveredinbees - welcome to OS :D Mine have only just begun their summer holidays too :):):) Always makes me ponder why the schools have their "Summer Holidays" in August, when summer actually begins in June and Autumn officially begins in September
I'm glad the weather has picked up where you are; sadly it's still overcast where I am (although ... if I don't blink, I think I can see some sunshine glinting off the patio  ) Forecast good for tomarrow though.

Snowy - It's the Holiday Grand Plan which begins in August - to get everything (including planning/shopping/housework etc) done and dusted ready for Christmas.

Frizz - shall I send out Red Cross parcels periodically ;) Here you go, this is the recipe for their biscuits, (I'll PM you the other recipes)
    Queenie wrote:
Every Day Biscuits - Make and bake, or make and freeze, then bake

    Yield: between 45 - 50
    Gas 5/190C/ 375F

    Metric Imperial
    225g 1/2 lb butter, softened
    100g 4oz caster sugar
    225g 1/2lb SF Flour
    5ml 1 tsp vanilla essence
To finish: sprinkle of icing sugar

Beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, add vanilla and fold in the flour
    Mix to a smooth dough
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for a minute or two. Roll into a sausage shape approx 5cm/ 2in in diameter, put in fridge to chill until firm.

To Freeze: Wrap in foil, pack in a freezer bag. Seal, label and freeze.
To Thaw and Serve: Thaw in the wrappings in the fridge for approx 30 mins, then cut into thin (ish) slices, place on greased baking sheets and bake in a preheated oven for 10mins.
Transfer to a wire rack and leave to cool. Sprinkle with icing sugar before serving.

    Variations:
Chocolate: Sub 25g / 1oz cocoa powder for the vanilla.
Cherry: Add 50g / 2 oz glace cherries, finely chopped
Nut: Add 50g/2oz chopped almonds or walnuts.

    Notes:
These take moments to prep. I make one batch and cut the 'sausage' in half before chilling. Once chilled to firm, one half is then put in the freezer.
The "dough" will keep in the fridge for a few days, so you can "slice" fresh biscuits as and when required.

Well I took everyone's advice thank you and decided to go to bed for a while. Feel a bit better now.

OH has found some Tesco vouchers we mislaid ages ago:eek: , I was frantic when they went because we'd taken out insurances so had extra points and the vouchers came to £71, we were going to get Eurostar tickets with them. The expiry date is the 31st of this month so he found them in the nick of time:T

Have been following Mr Badexamples cake thread - it's a hoot and he's done really well I'm trying to resist baking a cake now:o .

Livinginhope, do stay around - I'm a newbie here as well and I find it's very difficult to acknowledge everyone or even a few - quite often the posts cross as well so you miss people.
