Morning all
Tis quiet here this morning, we've been up for ages as it's DH's birthday and we wanted to make sure he had time to open his presents before he went to work. Now it's all quiet but it looks like it's going to be a hot one.
DS is still in bed and DD is watching Toy Story 2 so hopefully a little bit of peace this morning.
DD1 rang me last night to tell me that she is flying to Majorca at the end of this month, she is petrified of flying but has been offered work as a technician on the set of Casino Royale and her other half has a 6 second part as a barman so they couldn't turn it down. DH is most disgruntled as he loves all the James Bond movies and he's the one with the performing arts degreeOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

A person is also allowed to post how the weather feels where she is, I haven't seen you post on Old Style before so you may not have noticed there is a slight difference here, we try to support people without making them feel small. Slept in this morning,......thanks to someones alarrn going off for 45 minutes at 2am and then again at 3.30....... did not get back to sleep until well after 4.30.....
Very warm here right now, have the curtains closed and I can feel the heat.. OH has presidents day at the bowls club, so afraid I have to put in an appearance. I went two years ago and was ignored by everyone..........felt like a leper!!!!! I am not a natrually outgoing person and find it difficult to speak to people I don't know..........will have to see what this afternoon brings......
Have a load of washing to put out, it should be dry before we go..... sheets off the bed.... the laundry bin is not filling up so fast we are not wearing so many clothes right now....
Right I am off down for another cup of caffine and get on....
Have a good day chaps.......
By the way autumn is in the air........ the leaves are falling due to the heat and lack of water.........it may still be august, but there is a chill in the air at nights..at least its cooler at nights easier to sleep.

Hi all,
Tootles, I sympathise, I'm hopeless at small talk. What I try to do now is think of a few innocuous topics to talk about and just ask questions about them - have you been on holiday yet, oh where did you go or where are you going etc. Most people are quite happy to talk about themselves.;)
DH spent all day yesterday on the computer:mad: and now he's just told me it was for my benefit!!
Feeling a bit fed up today, I've got lots to do and don't feel like doing any of it - plus I've got two meetings to Clerk tomorrow and Tuesday nights so I'll be exhausted at work for most of the week.
Must try to drag my self-pitying person away from the pC and get on with things.

Morning all
Pretty quiet day today. Off to Garden centre in a minute to look for some late flowering bedding plants for the front garden (I say garden, it's actually a patch of dirt 3 foot by 5 foot)
We have friends coming up from Wales for a visit so am hoping to impress them with the carrot cake and coconut biscuits I made yesterday. House needs a quick once over before they arrive and I must try and see if I can get the cat sick stain out of the hall carpet with the near miraculous Stardrops I keep hearing about.....
Breakfast: Banana
Lunch: HM Soup
Dinner: Pea and Feta Tortilla, Salad
Best thing by a country mile about today is that I don't have to do a scrap of revision as I passed my accountancy exam on Friday (Yay me!!! :T :T ).0 -
Morning
I wish it was autumn, that's my favourite time of year :T
I was in Cheddar on friday, went up Jacob's Ladder - 274 steps  My legs were shaking. Soooo pleased when I reached the top, then I saw the tower which I'd completely forgotten about, so I had to climb that as wellWe went in to the caves as well, they were lovely and cool.
I had a very lazy day yesterday, so now I've got to do the work I was supposed to do on friday. The house is supposed to be empty today apart from me but son and hubby are still here which makes it harder to work
I've managed to put the washing machine on so I've made a start :rotfl:Bulletproof0 -
Hello All
Back at work again. That's all my life seems to be at the moment. It's been really busy for a Sunday, don't quite know what's going on
Hoping to go to a village show later, which has a 1940's feel and everything on sale is home made
Saw an interesting idea on the TV yesterday of making elderberry jelly, which I think Mum and I might have a go at.
Hope everyone's okComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Morning everyone.
I've had a busy weekend to now. Me and DH found a new(er) car, and have decided to get that one, as they would part ex the current car for it. It was really comfy, so we have transferred some money from the savings, and will be picking it up on monday the 14th after the short hols.
We also managed to tick some more jobs of the never ending list that i want to get done before the hols. I sat and wrote it out again in detail last night, as last time i missed loads off, and it was 220 things. DH seems to think we will be able to get a lot done if we could just get a good weekend at it, although the trouble is, when that will happen lord only knows. He's at work again today, so i will continue to see what pottering i can do.
I am under instructions to take it easy today though. I was bleeding a bit yesterday, and although only a tiny amount, it was enough to give DH a shock and tell me to sit down for the day. I think it is likely to be because we have had a lot of stress and running around for the past few weeks, and i need to make more time for meals, and resting. Will hopefully be fine once i get away from it all next week.
I do need to pack today, and perhaps do some ironing of stuff to take with us, but other than that, i'd best follow my husbands orders or i will be in trouble. :rotfl:
good luck tootles with the smalltalk - i think snoozers ideas were fab. You could also try talking to them about their grandkids. My grandads a bowler, and he could talk for england about us grandkids or his new wife. they probably feel as awkward as you do.
catowen - hope you snag some bargains at the boot sale. I want to go to one soon, so i can get some cheap baby gates. Won't need them for ages yet though.
Have a nice day everyone. I may be around a bit today as i can see me getting bored. I also have to get my fix before my hols.
Michelle, xx0
