Well, I have had quite a busy day, two loads of washing out and dried. ironing done and have unpicked one curtain to fix the lining into it rather than having it loose.......OH back from his bowls day, had a cooked lunch, so has just had chicken salad for his supper.... I had to make do with lentil soup and toast at lunchtime.......finished off a bottle of wine so feeling just a little mellow right now.........

Oh grass cutting tomorrow, I am going to finish off the one curtain I have started and will try and finish the other one tomorrow, need to keep the back bedroom warmer, hence changing the curtains, might try a gentle wash on the ones I am taking down, they are chintz, you are not supposed to wash them but they are filthy, as they are now about at least 10 years old I think it really will not hurt them. I inherited them from the house where I was housekeeper when we moved back to Leicester........I remade them then, but did not wash them, they loose the glaze if you wash them..........

Pukka pads, I want one...... but they do not have the one I need at Tesco, am going to use it for the project we have on hand........

Going to have my post supper coffee...................

    HURRAH :D

The errant gerbil has been found (hiding under the tallboy in our room!) I knew I'd heard it's danger/scared footbeats this morning :D However, I finally captured it from under the armchair with the aid of some large tubes and some fennel seeds (they can't resist the aroma apparently) Actually, the tube she chose to go in is the one they play in in their box, so she must have gone for the comforting smell, Anyway, she's back home with her mate and securely fastened in. Phew - DS1 was starting to get all tearful about it.

Anyway, the TENTH load of washing has finished (that's in 2 days, not just today) so must hang it up. Need to do the bedding but I think that can wait a couple of days :D I must do some more ironing too - made a start on it when I had to go gerbil hunting.

Had a lovely chicken and veg stirfry for tea in the end. Must remember to get some mince out to make spag bol tomorrow. Hmm, that may be harder than I thought - as the little freezer needs defrosting and I can't open the top shelf where the mince is. (Mr TM left the door ajar on saturday night  )

Right, double Corrie tonight, in company with my ironing board.

    TM xxx

ps :hello: to Geordielass and any other newbies who have recently arrived.

Oh, it's so lovely to be back on here - it's lovely reading helos and what everyone's been up to.
Pen pen - you made me laugh re how to treat the weather!!
Smashing blouse - (hugs), your daughter's dressing up and nursing mummy is so lovely.
Bargain rzl - I think you need to change your name to 'prom queen' and for obviouse reasons!
Yay Snowy - well done you, that was a fab result on your cleaner. Really chuffed for you - I know you've been trying to tackle the cat hair for a while now.
Welcome Geordielass - warning, this thread is seriously addictive ;)
We did go to the bootsale today, and boy am I glad we didn't go to sell. Normally there are 100's of buyers and almost as many sellers (it's the stormy down one Catzine). Today however there were more sellers parked than buyers - and there were only about 20 sellers plus a few traders in the hangers! I feel so sorry for the sellers, they would've paid £8 each, and they'll be lucky to make that back.
Went on to the designer outlet from there and Julian Graves had 25% off so bought some seeds for my bread making.
I also had to go to an Argos to get a new freeview set - ours packed in this afternoon and as it was mostly the boys things that were sold on the bootsale yesterday (albeit old and now unused things) I felt it only fair to replace it for them. However that does mean that in three days I've used the whole weeks £25 petrol allowance! Mind, as well as the bootsales we did go to Porthcawl for the evening on Friday and the boys had a fantastic time (and for once didn't argue!... much ;) )
Anyways, bored you all sensless, so off to do some more tidying.
Hope it goes well for you tomorrow Smashing Blouse,
    Best wishes,
    Kaz x

Ps forgot to tell you about my 'find' at the bootie. Still haven't found a 'tightwads gazette' - however I did find 'practical knitting illustrated'(20p). It's quite old, but the really quaint thing about it is all the pictures of fashion 'gone by'. There's even patterns for socks - if mine continue to hole theirs then I shall be learning... at least they can be darned! :D
    January '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.
    Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far :p )
Someone burst my bubble and I lost the plot so no idea what I spent now... :(I will try to work it out.
    Other Jan :- Petrol £20.41, Clothes £8.50, House £3.

Phew, glad the gerbil turned up.

Snowy, well done on the bargaining, I'm really pathetic at it - can do it at work but when it's for myelf I'm hopeless, I even have to go away when Oh is bargaining because I feel embarassed.

Feeling very pleased with myself today because it's not often I get the chance at being truly oS but I managed it today. Just going to make lentil soup now from the ham stock and then a bit of ironing (unless OH does it) and I'm done (and done in I might add).

    Back to w**k tomorrow:(

    Evening everyone whos still online:D

Popped to work earlier to take the plants into the office i got from ikea, didnt want to struggle on train tomorrow - so being BH i was able to drive there. As it was quite took DH & kids to see my office. Then took kids to museum in docklands for a free play in their "mudlarks" area. Then for slap up lunch in mcdonalds! , then back home and out for another family bike ride down to the pub and back!! we've decided this is a good way to get to the pub, cycle there have pit stop of beer whilst kids play in their playground! then bike back! not too much beer otherwise that rather defeats the object of getting fit by bike riding!

Had a freecycler turn up this evening- good - but have been let down twice with others who have said they are interested in my cot but dont reply or turn up:mad: - why cant people just let you know?? oh well maybe i will put it on ebay?

penpen - listened to archers yesterday - no mention of brians antics???
snowyowl - good for you with the bargaining on the vac!!!! i didnt realise that about the uk delivery? but it doesnt surprise me. So are you all hoovered out now? and suppose you are resting with glass of vino and muffins no doubt:rotfl:
tootles - yr post made me laugh about yr dh and the lost bowl!:rotfl:
TM - glad the gerbil was found before it done any nibbling damage around the house!

    welcome geordielass!

Hugs to all not feeling that well.

ps: i managed to tackle my Iron Mountain last nite!!

i'm finally sat down properly. What a weekend! The living/dining room is looking super. A tad more purpley than the shades of chocolate brown i was expecting, but still very nice.

We have laminate floored 2/3rds of the room. Enough to get the settee and TV back out, :rotfl: but i can't see us getting anything substantial done till next weekend now. Then just the gloss painting to do, and we may actually get finished. Wow - that is only 2 months after starting. Then i can start getting the babies room ready. :T

TM - glad you found the gerbil. I was imagining it hiding in your ironing pile. That is why i won't have a pet gerbil.

snowy - well done on the hoover purchase, that should make flying easier. Good that you managed to haggle as well. My sister said she had been to dunelm today and they had the cushions i had bought last weekend for half the price i paid in B and Q. I will be heading there next weekend or perhaps the one after now, if i can bear to sit that long with no curtains in the front room.

going to go and grab a bath now so i am ready to babysit the nephews tomorrow. 8:30 am to about 6pm. I think i will be shattered after doing that for the next 4 days.

night night all, sleep well i hope

Evening all! just thought I'd pop in briefly.

Shez - we haven't yet been to the Museum in Docklands, though I gather it's part of the Museum of London. Would you recommend it? Not too hard for us to get to if DH and I are both having a "good day" at the same time, as we can get a train to Lewisham and then the DLR.

Snowy Owl - glad to hear you managed to get your Miele, and well done on the haggling!:D

Ticklemouse - glad the gerbil turned up! I suspect we may have either a mouse or a frog in the house as one of the cats keeps trying to get into the gap (about 1 inch wide!:D ) between the cooker and the worktop! (The other cat can't hear it as she's gone deaf in her old age!;)

Penny-Pincher - sorry you are still feeling rough!:o

geordielass - welcome to OS! Be careful, as other people have already warned you, it's addictive. I don't seem to have had a chance to get on the pc until the evenings lately, but here I am...

Snoozer - that lentil soup sounds lovely!

Kaz - so glad you're back, we all missed you!

Purple Princess - glad you enjoyed Reading!:D

I was in WHS the other day and saw that they had Pukka pads - in the end the lure was irrestible and I bought the Academic one for DD who's at Uni, and the Project one for myself - not sure what to do with it yet, but after hearing so many folk say how great they were I felt I must really need one!:p

Ticklemouse has reminded me that I too need to get mince out of the freezer for tomorrow's spag bol! Better go and do it NOW or I'll forget all about it.

Night, everyone, and I hope everyone who's not well today feels better tomorrow.

since i last posted i went to jimmy chungs with my wee sis mmmmmmm then the cinema (don't think i can ever look at a snake or a plane the same way again  ).

since coming home the back of fourish i've done pretty much nothing of note...i have got my first attempt at mocha squares cooling on a rack. taking them to work tomorrow since it's my last day :j my wee sis loved the choc chip cookies this morn, managed to keep a couple of them up here too!

had to do a mad rush round to sainsbury's at 9 when i realised i had no marg to make the cakes tho  but was good and only bought marg :D

realised yesterday i actually have one of those pukka pad things in the house, a prject book one! i was old style and i didnt even know it :rotfl: so thats going with me tomorrow for my first day at college, higher english evening class starts so hopefully it'll come in handy.

Good evening all! Not managing to get on here until late at the moment!!

Have skimmed the thread, (((hugs)))) to those that need them.

Kaz, glad to see your post. Glad that like me you've not posted because you're busy, and not anything bad!!

Snowy, I got a miele vacuum today, my panasonic was dying fast. I could have sucked up more than it!!! I got the Cat and dog one and we don't have either!!! But I wanted the turbo brushes, is that what you got? I rushed to John Lewis this afternoon to get it, paid £179.00, a lot of money but I'm well impressed with it's suction and pick-up powers so far!! Also it's got a really good which? writeup and miele have fantastic reliability records.

Ticklemouse, great that you got the gerbil back unharmed and in one piece. Poor DS must have been so worried!

Ivyleaf, how's your daughter and new DGS doing? If you're not too busy we must arrange that coffee, maybe next week?

Going for a little look around while I enjoy a glass of spritzer, purely for it's thirst quenching properties, you understand!:D

    Cheers CMxx

    Evening All

Had a manic day so only had time to skim read again. BM is offically dead as I thought it might be last week so made 2 loafs by hand today plus batch of banana muffins for lunches this week.

Then we nipped to MFI to have a look at new kitchens, think we have decided on a style but it will have to wait until after xmas priority at the moment is to get the lounge sorted so we can get the woodburning stove in to cut down the gas bill.

Cooked a piece of ham for tea which has done us for tonight with enough left for tomorrow lunch sandwiches.

Anyway speak in the morning if I have time
Sorting my life out one day at a time
