Oh dear TM I hope your gerbil shows up sooner rather than later. Have you got a cat?
I got my Miele vacuum cleaner:j!! The local electrical store had it, and as I'd been surfing the net checking prices knew if I was getting a good deal or not. I stuck my brass neck out and asked for a discount. She gave me £10 off. I said "hmmm" and continued the conversation about its functions. Then I said "would you let me have it with £20 off?". (Knees were knocking!) She consulted her manager and she said yes... Yay, that's good - it was still £180 but no delivery fee and I got it home today. My other bargain of the day was a big bag of James Wellbeloved kitty food - 3 kgs for the price of 2.
I've also got the ingredients or the Christmas cake, so between vacuum cleaning, kitty feeding and cake mixing I'm going to have a busy evening.
Bye for now.

snoozer wrote:Lynsayjane - sorry to hear about your problems too, I have an underactive thyroid as well and a constant battle against my weight, no matter what the docs say about the thyroxine being a direct replacement I've never met anyone who feels as well again as they did before or who can lose weight easily (and believe me weighed 8stones and could eat what I liked before).
Sue
You're absolutely right there. I had half my thyroid removed 10 years ago & ever since I've struggled with my weight when I didn't have to think about it before. The doctor insists that my thyroid function is 'within normal limits' but I'm the one who lives with it every day & I KNOW that my metabolism has altered.
I sympathise with everyone who has this problem (apparently 4x more women than men). I've got my weight under control now but it's been a real battle & I think my solution would be a bit extreme for most people - I'm a vegan who cycles 50 miles a week & has just come back from a cycling holiday when I covered virtually 300 miles in 8 days.
I feel better since I changed my diet than I have since I had the op & I have bags of energy but as I say - my lifestyle isn't for everybody.
Well done lyndseyjane on your weightloss. I think it was TM who had a signature that said 'exercise is the way forward - unfortunately' & I think she's right. Not what you want to hear when you're feeling completely drained though is it?0 -

One of the gerbils has escaped
Don't worry, it'll turn up, they always do, just have some gerbil catching kit at the ready for when it does, normal handling isn't brilliant with a panicky gerbil.
When my kids let the hamster run under the piano, I said I'd gat the vac out. They screamed a bit, even though I assured them that I could secure a hanky over the end of the nozzle, like a hamster filter...... They still haven't forgiven me, not that I actually did it.

Actually, forgot to say that she's a terrible influence on me. When I was at Tesco's yesterday I noticed they had pukka pads on sale (not a normal line at my store) so I just had to have one ......... well, three
We'll have to start a Puka support group. What does everyone put in their Pukkas?
9th load of washing!!!! (Awed)

 Hello Geordielass,
I don't feel quite entitled to welcome you, as I'm relatively new on here, but these folk are lovely.

Where would you recommend? I don't know Bradford too well but its only 3/4 of an hour away.
Re:-toilet roll, a thread on the Costco Passport may help with that.0 -

did a car boot sale today, first in ages, and made £112 and got rid of a load of "stuff". Resisted temptation to buy more stuff whilst there but noticed 3 breadmakers for sale all at under £5:eek:
Couldn't find any when I was looking last year:mad:
Thankfully the rain kept off despite chucking it down before and afterwards:D
hope everyone has had a good bank holiday weekend.
Good luck with catching the gerbil, i like the idea of a "hamster filter":rotfl: :rotfl:
