Sorry, but no time to read other posts, so hope eveyone is feeling well. Many loads of washing done and hung on clothes maids around the house, as weather not fit to hang out. Spent afternoon playing board games with DS(4) then made veg crumble (first time) and sausages for tea. OH and DS outside making paper bricks. DD miserable after having a midnight feast last night with her friend (holiday treat) and consequently not getting enough sleep.
Dishes washed by hand as dishwasher kaput, as is microwave. Will put a 5 seeded loaf in BM tonight on timer, and wake tomorrow to the smell of fresh bread. Declared myself on strike for the rest of the night, so anything that needs doing will be down to DH. Have a good Sunday evening and a pleasant day tomorrw if you're not working (I am, unfortunately).

DH has picked blackberries for me and may make a pie tomorrow if I cannot talk him into taking us to the seaside.
Had a nice picnic at Temple Newsam in Leeds and were going to look at a house today but have had to rearrange the visit.
Hugs to everyone."This site is addictive!"

Penny-Pincher!! wrote:Where can I find a good set of measuring cups/spoons on the cheap? Have looked on Ebay and cheapest I can find is £5 including postage for white plastic ones
...is that good? Was after the chrome ones if poss-would Matalan sell them cheaply?
I nearly sent off for some spoons out of my Lakeland Catalogue, but the trouble is I wanted to order a load of other things too and the whole thing came to about £40! I wanted them for my new Panasonic breadmaker but was so glad that I put off sending my Lakeland order because when my breadmaker came there was a measuring cup and spoons included!
I was in Wilkinsons yesterday and I saw a set of plastic measuring spoons there for 49p! So another reason for not ordering from Lakeland! Im so glad I didn't! They also do other things for measuring such as beakers and plastic jugs, so I would recommend you try your local Wilkos. Im sure they had some chrome/stainless steel ones too.0 -

What I used:
2 lb veg, I used sweet potatoes, butternut squash and carrots
1 onion
1 clove garlic
tablespoon olive oil
Peel veg and cut into chunks. Chop onion and crush or chop garlic. Roast everything in tin with oil at gas 6 200c degrees for about 20 mins. I added some rosemary and sage cos I'd got them in the garden. Tip into a baking dish.
Make white sauce with
1oz butter
1oz plain flour
1pt milk
Cook until thickened, and use sauce to cover the veg in the baking dish.
Make crumble
2oz cheese (I used cheddar and parmesan
2oz plain flour
1oz butter
1oz Quaker oats
Rub butter and flour together until like breadcrumbs, stir in oats and cheese. Use to cover the veg and sauce. Cover with foil and cook at gas 6 or 200 degrees for 15 minutes, uncover and bake for a further 20 mins or so until golden.
I guess you could use any kind of veg you have around, would imagine that anything like broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes would have to be par-boiled before adding to baking dish.

Hi everyone!
I'm up at my Mum's at the mo' on the pretext of watering her pots whilst she's on hol [but she just happens to have broadband and I've only got dinosaur dial up at home:D ]
Am trying to fit in a spot of DIY this weekend so have washed down and sanded the garage door T-H-R-I-L-L-I-N-G! before I repaint it but fortunately my lovely SIL and her family arrived for lunch just in time and saved me from myself:rotfl: :rotfl:
OH has been a true OStyler in the kitchen this weekend and produced 2 chicken and ham pies [using roast leftovers] for lunch followed by apple and blackberry crumble. He even made cheese straws with the leftover pastry. He's very well trained isn't he and it all disappeared!!
Managed to have a proper OS day yesterday as took the small person into town to spend his pocket money. As usual we did a charity shop trawl and I managed to find some books in mint condition which I've squirrelled away for Chrimbo. I also pushed the boat out and spent.....£1.85 on 2 DVDs, a disco CD and a gorgeous beaded bag [I've got a load of them already on my shelves in the front room] Not a bad haul. Hope to get down there on my own next Sat as the small person doesn't do browsing in any shape or form AAARGH:mad:
In the afternoon I picked my elderberries for my jam and some plums from my friend's garden. She is in the process of gutting her house that she's moved into recently and was going to dump her panelled kitchen door. Only now she's not because guess who's house it's coming to!! It'll need stripping down and repainting but hey it's a freebie and good recycling in my book. It's amazing how my ideas have changed since the redundancy last year. I think a lot more laterally these days rather than just popping into B& Q.
Enjoy the bank hol. We're off on a walk weather permitting

Evening All
Had a lovely day today with Dh and DD, this morning we went to a carboot and summer fair and craft show at the local village hall. Later we went out for our tea to Pizza Express and DD was an angel :A . As a treat for being so good we went home via the big park and she manged to walk all the way round without the buggy :j . She was wacked out when we got home and is fast asleep in bed now and I'm chilling out with a large glass of red  .
Off for a wander through the threads now

Spent the afternoon emptying dd's wardrobe and drawers, putting it away for her. I don't know if she'll ever wear any of it again and i've kept some items to sell that I'm sure she never or very rarely wore. I had fun imagining some distant dgs saying to her "mum you didn't wear this horrible thing did you":rotfl:
She had 7 pairs of heels over 4", te highest were 6" and she's 5'11"
Hope everyone has a good night.
