    Hi all!

Ticklemouse - glad you've had a lovely time! We missed you! Don't worry, the extra weight will soon come off now you're back to being active.:j Just do some star jumps.....:D

Penny-pincher - so glad you're feeling a little better today, Hon - not surprising you're shattered, coping with pain is exhausting. We really miss you when you're not around - the daily thread just isn't the same without you on it.(((((HUGS)))))

Snowy owl - my vacuum cleaner is a Sebo Kompact K cylinder and it's much better than my Dyson - not too noisy either. It was cheaper than the Miele Cat & Dog, but then it's smaller! It copes admirably with our carpeted house with 2 "moulty" cats.

Smashing Blouse - ouch, your poor tummy! ((((HUGS)))) Hope all will go well with your op.

HUGS to everyone I haven't mentioned! Hope you have a good BH and that those who are working find the time goes quickly, and that those who aren't feeling well get better ASAP.

So there we were in Asda on Thursday. DH picks up bottle of Bathroom Cleaner and goes to put it in the trolley.

Me: We don't need that. I've got Stardrops.

DH: (confused) But we do need it, we haven't got any left.

Me: No, it's all right, I've got Stardrops!

DH (exasperated): Look, I know you've got this Stardrops stuff because you keep going on about it. BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS!

I could have sworn I'd told him....oh well, he knows now!:p And there's now some in the bathroom, in the old Bathroom Cleaner bottle!

    best wishes

    ivyleaf xx.

    Hi Snoozer, I cross-posted with you.
  • Good afternoon everyone

Bit of a lazy old day for me - am currently curled up on the couch watching an old Inspector Morse and reading through the 'Avoid using GAS and ELECTRIC this winter!' and 'The Iceman Cometh' threads to get ideas for energy saving in the coming months.

Did make a Red Dragon pie earlier which we'll have for supper along with spring greens and peas. DH picked about a pound of blackberries earlier too and I was going to make a crumble but I think I'll freeze them now and use them next month to make a pear and blackberry crumble cake from a recipe I found years ago in Sainsburys magazine.

I've done it, I've done it .... I've finished a set of curtains in less than a week ... LOL.

Yes, I know for some of you that's not an achievement, but trust me ... in this house it is!!!

Right, off to get the washing in and do DD's tea ... then the ironing beckons!

Well done Zed! I know exactly what you mean about that sense of achievement! You've spurred me on - I have some fabric to make some curtains for the front of my DD's "wardrobe" (2 rails in an alcove on the side of her chimney breast) so will get it done before she's home at the weekend. Won't tell yoiu how long I've had the fabric :o

    Good afternoon everyone,

Smashing blouse - hope things go ok on Tuesday, and that all this pain is worth it!!! Hope you start to feel better soon xx

Well, back from town, managed to get DSs party invites and most of the party bags, although Woolies only had 11, and i needed 15, but the young lad assured me that they would be getting more in, if not, some of the boys will have to have something different!!! I also picked up some more frames for the pictures im hanging up in my hall, and (sorry Aussie) a project Pukka Pad, to go with my Pukka Pad jotta i bought the other day!!!! I have lots of lists and little books lying around, and im hoping to put them all together in the project pad now, so theres my job for tomorrow!!!!
Also went to Asda and bought the rest of the school uniform that i needed (Asda still has 20% off school wear at the mo) so now its just their new shoes that we need, but will get those next week.
Right, off to watch the all star cup, im hoping to spot Liz (ronankfan) she texted me to say shes in the front row of the grandstand at hole 18!!!!
Hope everyone has a lovely afternoon
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I managed to fall asleep in front of the telly and I feel truly grotty now, I must try and wake up so I can roll out the pastry for tea!

Had a lovely lazy day today (apart from doing the ironing!); spent this morning on line pricing up ski holidays (booked a 10% off bargain on the Virgin website in the end) and OH is currently in the kitchen making coq au vin for tea. It smells yummy. I am trying to watch Pride & Prejudice (the old, Colin Firth version), but he keeps turning it back to the footy when I'm not looking!

Penny Pincher - My measuring spoons were from Tesco - boring white plastic but I'm sure they were less than a quid?
Hello to all, enjoy the bank holiday tomorrow!

Late again for me while i skive away from the DIY.

DH is doing a stirling job. He has given the ceiling 2 coats of paint already, and about to start the 3rd. He has also cut the skirting board to size, and i will be undercoating that while he then paints the walls. HE has also finished painting the porh roof (a tiny area of about 1squaremeter but started nearly 18 monhs ago and desperately needed finishing.)

I have managed to get two loads through the WM, one through the BM, although i could now do with another, some gardening, cleaned the cooker, and washed up twice. I feelbad that DH is having to do most of it, but he seems happy that i do what i can and make sure he gets fed regularly. ;)

It's nice to be finally making some progress at a rapid speed. It has been 8 weeks to now since the fireplace came out, and i can't wait to have my home back.

welcome back TM. Glad you had a nice hols, and 5.5 pounds isn't too bad. ;)

the hoover chat is interesting. Our Dyson is dying a slow death since DH hoovered up rubble, and its not coping with cat fur at the moment. I think that is because it was the original model though and is about 8 years old, and mum was throwing it out a good 4 years ago and we took it and fixed it. No right to moan really.

foreverskint - enjoy your kittens. They don't stay small for long. I think ours must be about due a birthday this weekend. 2 is much easier as well as they copy each other. Ours even share a bed and bowl, but they are brothers. Its so sweet when they wash each other.

Well best get to it. DH is about to finish the 3rd coat, which is my cue to have a tea ready. :o

tomorrow is laminate flooring, which i think might be a lot worse.

    Michelle, xx
