Hello everyone!
Oops sorry for mentioning Christmas cake, I seem to have set a few people off in Christmas mode.
My Flyladying today got shoved onto the back burner. In preparation for Christmas cake making I decided to go hunting for ingredients and for some bizarre reason drove about 30 miles on a mission to Tesco in another town. On the way I saw a Matalan - I didn't know Matalan was in N.Ireland - so I celebrated by going in and spending some money! I got a new garlic press, a new spud masher (£2, the old one is too bendy), a wooden book rest thingy for the kitchen at £2.50, some trackie bottoms £4 and something else which I can't remember right now. Then I resumed my hunt for cake ingredients in Tesco, and seemed to arrive at the right time for reductions on their fresh bread - got lots of rolls at 5p each, some fancy italian style loaves at 30p each, and a big wholemeal loaf at 37p. The freezer is fairly well stuffed now. Unfortunately they didn't have rum or brandy essence (or is it extract?) - so have to go looking for those tomorrow to get the cake underway.
It's still early enough to do some cleaning...the house always needs cleaning! I've got no telly, so have to do something...
That was an interesting encounter you had in the supermarket AussieLass. That poor woman must be so confused. Good job she has her daughter to look out for her. The comment about your botty made me giggle though.
ageandjo - I hope your horse is OK. I have experience of vet's fees. Have you ever met a poor vet??? Of course not!! And as for that friend - think I'd be majorly annoyed too, how bad mannered of her to let you down. Did you ask her if she was fobbing you off? A direct question like that might prompt her to think twice about being so disrespectful of you again.
It's a really nice evening here now - despite the sheets of rain this morning - so I think I'll go for a walk while it's still daylight.
Bye all!

Hi
OH stewed the Damsons and has cooled and been de-stoned! Theres enough there for about 3 good sized crumbles and will do the apples tomorrow.
Got out 4 TTD posh large lamb chops-reduced from £8:eek: to £1.50 (yellow stickered:D ). They will be for roast dinner tomorrow, also got some back bacon we bought from the butchers a few weeks back out...smoked...lovely. Also, some bread rolls (yellow stickered) to 10p;) ...eating well, but cheaply tomorrow.
Anyway, hoping I will sleep better tonight.

Hi Annie, hope you are feeling better.
Yes it was the Cafe Shebab.....this was the very first place my hubby tried Indian food.....only last year!!!
I managed to come away with a huge bag of bombay mix for free. I offered to pay but the lovely waiter refused
Was at work this morning - not the best of days but at least a short week coming with being off on Monday. Don't know anyone else that's off on Monday as it's not really a Scottish holiday
Came home and had a quick tidy up then hubby and I headed off to the pub for a few drinks. We had a lovely afternoon and got home about 7:30 (just in time to catch the end of the X-Factor).
Feeling quite tired so think I will head to bed soon. Just reading through a few threads first.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.0 -
Skystar- feeling much better thanks.
I mentioned the Cafe Shebab cos I'm sure it's the ONLY place to eat out in Newmains. :rotfl: In saying that I know it has a good reputation for its buffet nights and if you are going to try indian cuisine for the first time then that's the way to do it. Glad you enjoyed it.
I prefer the China Garden chinese takeaway myself. I always made sure I had a takeaway at least once when I visited my family. They did the best ever Sweet & Sour Chicken. The guy that owned it has now sub-let it and is running a takeaway in Cleland. So, if you desperately need a good chinese takeaway, you know where to go.
Then again, I don't know what the takeaways are like in the Harthill/Shotts area so feel free to correct me.
Enjoy the rest of your night."Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

I am pretty sure as well it's the only place to eat in Newmains as well :rotfl:
We have never been for the buffet nights - usually just get a take-away but decided to sit in last night. Every time we are there or talk about it we always say "we really must go to the buffet night" - still never been tho' :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Glad you are feeling better. And you too enjoy the rest of your night.0 -
Hi all,
It seems as if there are a lot of people feeling unwell on here today. Count me in - I felt very peculiar when I woke up and kept falling over when I went to the bathroom, luckily thaat passed off but I was left with a orrible headache which hasn't really gone. Hope everyone feels better tomorrow, especially you PP.
I'm typing this on my brand new laptop:D so I'm able to keep one eye on the TV as well. I'm so pleased with it. We went to Ikea as well and bought some storage bags so that I can pack up dd's clothes and put them in the loft.
Ds is at present in the kitchen with his gf and another friend baking a blackberry and apple crumble (the pcked the berries earlier). hope they clean up the kitchen afterwards.0 -

Just got back from North London - what a trek! - the Piccadilly Line seems to stop every 50 yards  Thought I may as well start Sunday's thread as I doubt I'll get a chance to post in the morning.
My cousin's party was a good do - weather held off (even though when I left home in SE London it was chucking down to the extent that my jeans had knee-high rising damp by the time I got on the train!) and I caught up with a lot of people - not just the cousin + cousin's wife who were having the gathering, but also his parents and brother and one of my other cousins who I used to be really close to when we were growing up but who I've barely seen in the last few years as she's been in the army and posted all over the place. Also, the place was full of pregnant women :rotfl: - besides cousin's wife who is currently 33 weeks gone, there were 2 of their friends there too, one 37 weeks and another 29
Earlier on I'd popped in to my local Cancer Research shop on the offchance, and managed to pick up a pair of black stretch-fit Per Una jeans for a fiver - identical in fact, other than the colour, to the blue pair I was wearing at the time - which by the way were also a charity-shop find!:D
anniebooklover - I'll respond to your PM sometime in the not too distant future
PP - lovely to see you back, I've been really worried about you :grouphug:ageandjo wrote:Your DD will love the Lionking I loved it the costumes are so good, I liked mary poppins too but I was ill when I went to see that with an inner ear infection which made me stumble like I was P***ed:p made me feel terrible really:o... BTW, that inner ear infection sounds like labyrinthitis, I had that when I was 14 and missed half a term of school cos I simply couldn't remain upright
I've seen the Lion King too, and yes, the costumes are amazing. I took my mum to see it about 5 or 6 years ago! I remember finding the second half a bit weak, but visually it's stunning.
Right, off to bed now, I spent FAR too much today and don't want to think about it

Morning BargainRzl :hello: (though I know you're tucked up in bed right now!)
Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself at your cousin's party yesterday. It's good to catch up with lots of people all at the same time. Well done on finding the jeans! There is nothing like a bargain to make a gal happy I find. Have you ever been to Putney? It's a fab place for lots of well stocked charity shops.
It's Sunday, so not a lot will be happening today. I really must get my butt in gear and do a bit more flyladying....I know, I know, it's time I either changed the record or actually did some of the things which need doing...
I have decided I need a Miele cat & dog vacuum cleaner, as I have heard such good reviews about it. Unfortunately at almost £200 it's not cheap. I'm in cat hair hell at the moment, my little £15 vacuum out of Tesco makes a valiant effort to clean up, but it's just not a match for my two kitties. I think I'll make that my Sunday afternoon project, ahead of getting carpet fitted in the house (still bare floors upstairs!).
So how is everyone today anyway? I look forward to reading your posts.
Bye, happy Sunday everyone.
