    Afternoon all,

Haven't been around for a few days, as have been "down South" to work and staying with my MIL.

So, welcome to all "newbies" and hugs to all.

This weekend had a bit of a result though ... sitting in traffic with my MIL and she points out some bunches of elderberries .... in vain I looked for elderflowers the other month. So, once we'd got back to hers off we trotted (DD, DH, MIL and I) with DD's pushchair, a pair of secateurs and a grabbit thing .. and picked 4lbs of elderberries with the intention of making some wine. We haven't made any wine since one mad Saturday about 6yrs ago when DH wanted to try it with the grapes we were growing in the garden.

MIL then mentioned that she thought that she had "home brew" kit in the attic, so we shoved DH up there to see what she'd got - result :) loadsa stuff, except for the glass demi-johns :(

Had a mooch around the OS board last night and someone mentioned that charity shops were quite good for such things ... so today, off I trotted .... 5 mins later and 3 glass demi-johns for £1.50 :) Guess what I'm going to be doing tonight :) I've ordered the yeast off eBay :)

This morning the postie brought my the dehydrator I'd ordered from QVC, which to be honest, had given up on as I'd been on the waiting list for almost 2mths :) Now, I've just got to figure out how to use it

Sold a book on amazon, and a couple of items on eBay, so off to post them in a few minutes, hoping that the change in postage prices isn't going to mean a big profit loss for me

Quick question - does anyone know where elders grow!?! I saw loads of them in the South ....but none around here in Shropshire, except for one .... which we discovered in our garden!

  • Afternoon all,

    (((hugs))) to elona

    Had a busy day today.

2 hours up at nan's house emptying and cleaning. 2 loads in the WM, kitchen cleaned, house tidied.

Have just taken out of the oven 6 banana muffins, weetabix cake and 20 fork biscuits. The house smells heavenly of baked goods and cinammon!!!

This evening will consist of having tea, washing up and then probably falling asleep on the settee early. Off to the doctors for blood test at 8.30 tomorrow ready for minor op next tuesday.

    Ooh just noticed 100 posts!!!!

    Evening all,

Had BIL, MIL and nephew and niece here this weekend - MIL is still here till next Sun, so I'm not at all up to date on postings - hugs to all who need them.

Did several OS themed meals over the weekend - Mexican on FRi and a big Italian style last night and then a huge pasta meal this lunchtime before they went - great way to make 6 sausages feed 8 people:D

The kids seemed impressed by the choc crispie flapjacks and the buns.

Funniest moment of the weekend was yesterday morning. We took the kids to swim in the sea. I'd been very os and made a pile of pancakes for them to eat afterwards. Anyway when the ferries go past there are some great waves for the kids to ride in on. DH and I wsere sitting well up the beach when one huge wave came right in and drenched us both to the waist! Luckily I managed to grab the car keys but the pancakes were sucked out to sea - and have either been eaten by the fishes or are now in Scotland. If you live near Wigtown I'd keep an eye out for them:D

Off to make sandwiches for tea now and to use up some bits in the fridge

    Kaz, well done

Zed, the elder tends to like disturbed ground so look around anywhere that has had an old building on it. We have loads here in Gloucestershire.

The hand is still very painful to use but has finally stopped throbbing. We had a lovely day except for DH's aggressive driving (which always scares me rigid, I'm on the verge of cancelling going to Longleat this week) We ended up going to a different place than planned but I think the kids enjoyed it more to be honest.

Right, hand is hurting, must go, have a good night everyone.

edited to add hugs for elona - I didn't realise the funeral was today, I'm so sorry :(

Went into town today, went into instore, got some stuff for the kids and went to look at their baskets for the christmas hampers im doing as reccommended by squishy, but didnt see any i liked:rolleyes: Went into b&q for paint and found some hanging baskets reduced to 2 pounds, got 4 so i will decorate these and use them as xmas hampers.

Went to argos and picked up a morphy richards 6.5 slow cooker for 18 pounds, used the last of my gift card from wedding towards it:T

Still trying to get to grips how go about using it, got diced chicken but not sure how to use it, couldnt see anything in the recipe bit for it:confused:

Boys all fine, but lo found ds1 dinner plate which still had fish on it! so he pulled that off worktop! washing machine was covered with tomato sauce and lo was a mess, hair/tshirt covered in sauce as well! bath time tonight anyway!!:rotfl:

Got a shot of a slowcooker book off mum so will study that later when boys in bed.

Hi, Zed! That was me, I think! Glad it was useful.

Kyle, was the SC on special offer? I couldn't find it. Do you have the code? I use a range during the winter, but would like a SC for the summer months, to make casseroles and pasta sauce. Is 6.5 l enough (or too big  ) for a family of 4?

Moggins, glad your hand is on the mend.

Thriftmonster    re the welsh cakes.

Smashing blouse - congrats on 100 posts. DD and I have made scones (clotted cream in fridge :j ) and shortbread (to go with summer fruit mix in the freezer, tomorrow)

Scuzz and Prinny, please behave! :naughty: A small person has been reading over my shoulder.
