Poor moggins!! But what on earth makes you think that hand will be knitting anytime in the next few days!!!
Squishy, thought I must have hit submit twice for a second there!!!You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Well as it's the left hand I thought I might be able to manage, suppose that might be pushing my luck a little? Oh well, wonder how I'm going to make lunch for tomorrows outing, good job DH is driving
Kaz, I would definitely discard those campden tablets, they're probably not any good any more, you can buy more in Wilko's.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
Mogggins, you're not thinking straight!! Poorly hand equals DH makes lunch!!:DYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0

Hello everyone
What a frustrating day....I decided to brave the garages to look for a full gas cylinder which will accept my gas fitting. The teenage shop assistants all look at me like I am a right dopey mare when I say I can't get the thingy to attach. When I ask if they come in more than one type of nozzle the response is invariably "dunno". One of the garages I went to made me pay then hang around out the back in the rain waiting for someone to come and get a cylinder for me...then the bloke announced they had no full ones...:mad:. So I am home now, with no gas and therefore no working hob. I'll have to waste my lunchbreak tomorrow going to the main bottled gas dealer in town as they were the ones who fitted my hob and supplied my fitting. They shut at five, how useful NOT!!!
On the up side, I found myself in Tesco today and got myself a Pukka Pad! Yay!! It is every bit as gorgeous as anticipated. Can you believe I had to drive 15 miles to get one of these....there isn't one to be had in Newry [STRIKE]town[/STRIKE] city at all, and believe me I tried every likely store!
I need to make a cake or scones or something for my tea breaks at work, but it looks like it'll have to wait until tomorrow evening. I bought some carrots, so might make a carrot cake. I also bought a new box of Weetabix, so perhaps it'll be the Weetabix cake? I did a little bit of blackberry picking today...twas v.v.v.convenient as I have a hedgerow on the other side of my garden fence. So maybe blackberry muffins...?? Or maybe all three, since I am not a WW person even though I need to be?!?
As I won't get back home at lunchtime tomorrow I am going to make something tasty in the slow cooker tonight, and take it with me in the flask I got in T.K.Maxx a couple of weeks ago before it burnt down. I miss TKMaxx - it's a bit of a jumble but when you're in the mood to browse it's heavenly. Not much good with it being a pile of ashes though.
Kaz....I nearly laughed my leg off when you mentioned your wee dog barking along with the "singer" on X factor. That was so funny!
Tootles, shame I live over the water in Ireland, otherwise I'd rendez-vous with you at the boot sale to buy some of your baking tins. Sometimes when I have the urge to batch bake my shortage of tins lets me down so I end up having the oven on for longer than I really need.
Moggins...omg your hand! You need your hand moggins, I know your MIL was a theatre nurse, but maybe you should visit A&E anyway so that a doctor can assess the damage and ensure your tetanus is up to date?
KiwiChick...the procedure for the Anthony Nolan Trust must have changed a bit. I'm on their register too, but they had an enrolment session at a local hospital and I went to that. I remember going but don't remember the actual procedure, so it must have been very easy. BTW I know someone who died from Sickle Cell anaemia....please, any of you of African/Carribean descent, please please get your menfolk to give blood, and register with the Anthony Nolan Trust.
OK, time to go and get something useful done before tomorrow comes. Oh no no no it's Monday_pale_tomorrow...nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Hiya Snowy!! Long time no speak!! Sorry you've had such a frustrating day!! Can somebody tell me why shops, all shops, insist on employing staff who can only look at you blankly and say " I dunno"!!
A pukka pad eh Snowy? Aren't they fun!!!:D I just love mine. The back (purple) section is for recipes tried and tested!! I must have had a premonition 'cos I wrote Kaz's welshcake recipe in before I'd ever made them!!! Luckily they really are a weekly make so deserve their place!!
Yep, tomorrow will be Monday, followed by Tuesday, Wednesday........ OK sorry I'm off!!You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Oh Moggins, poor you! that really made me wince. I sliced the tip of my middle finger the other day and that was bad enough. And i agree with Churchmouse, poorly hand = DH makes lunch!
Kiwi - so glad you found the needles! It's a great thing you're doing. I can't donate either and would so much have liked to.
Elona - ((((HUGS)))) for tomorrow, will be thinking of you.0 -
Snowy I'm sitting here sulking that you got a Puka pad. How UNFAIR is that and then have the cheek to skite about it. Some of us here CANT buy them you know.
Hhrmmmmmmmmph.
Churchmouse Ditto
Well it's a lovely morning here. Got up with DH earlier & then went back to sleep until 7am. Bliss. WM on and I need to put a piece of cornmeat on the stove. Hope you get the gas sorted out today/tomorrow:rolleyes: Snowy. Plans for today are cleaning the house & doing OS tax. Ho Hum. I wansn't going to do his this year as it's complicated with him being out the mines but caved in and said yes. It will take a while as I will have to read up all the right allowances etc. You can get into big trouble if you put the wrong thing. Of course if he went to the accountant it would cost him a few hundred $$$ but good old Mum does it for free. Sometimes just sometimes I get a box of choccies out of it.
Sleep well. ByeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Hi there Churchmouse...yes, it has been a while since our last chinwag! But I'm still here, sometimes I'm just being quiet, like a little...urmm..churchmouse!
I don't quite know what to do with my Pukka Pad, but I will definitely do something. Perhaps I'll go back to Moggins' thread about a home manual and use it for that. I've got a boring ring binder for recipes, so maybe I should transfer some over to the gorgeous exotic pukka pad. I may as well start with Kaz's welshcakes...they sound fabulous...
Shop assistants...hmmm, yeah, some of them are so clueless...but saying hello, and smiling or looking concerned isn't particularly difficult and would go a long way to make dealing with the public more pleasant. Asda used to make me laugh...they so obviously train their staff to smile and speak to customers. Kind of sad too that that has to be a training topic. When I lived in England it was sometimes a battle if it was a teenager who'd never heard an accent quite like mine. Now I'm over here I sometimes get asked to repeat myself and then asked where in England I'm from! Ya can't win!!
Enjoy your week off Churchmouse..you make me so jealous!!
I really, really gotta go now and get the slow cooker on. Nighty night all.
SnowyOwl
PS: On a happier note, tomorrow week is a public holiday. Hurray:T!!0 -

Did I mention that the Pukka Pad is a lovely blue colour, with a lovely wavy pattern on the front, and that it's got FIVE yes FIVE different colour moveable dividers, and that there's a calendar in it, and it's got a map of the world, and that it's totally gorgeous??? Did I mention any of that AussieLass??:rotfl::rotfl:0
