twink wrote:kaz - looks like you have most of what you need for winemaking, maybe a 2 gall bucket or are you going to start with a kit? dh made lots of different wines, but i left him to it except when it came to drinking it;)
I was inspired to give it a go by the recipie for blackberry wine on the blackberry picking thread, so that'll be my first. I used to make it with kits years ago - but ended up impatient and drinking it from the demi jons, lol. I must stress that I was very young then - not as wise and 'sensible' as I am now, (yeah, right, lol).
I think it'll be fun for me to do with DS1, and if it turns out ok will be nice to put in a basket for family for christmas. I'm also hoping to get enough blackberries to make some jam for everyone too. Hopefully I'll get the funding I need to do my holistic therapy course, and I'll recoup some of my contribution by using some of my oils to make tailor made bath oils for them (family) too.
My first attempt at wine making was brought about by making hampers for people for Chrisie pressies funily enough.... I remember spending Christmas eve attempting to hammer the corks into the bottles - and was still at it when the neighbours got back from midnight mass, lol. I guess I've allways been a last minute lilly!

Well I had a bit of a productive day, decided this morning to clear the cupboard in which all my plastic bowls and boxes reside.......it was a double cupboard with a shelf in and it was full...............now the plastic is on one shelf in one side of the cupboard.
I matched things with lids and kept two of each, the rest went into a bag for the boot sale. I have 12 cartons that came from Lakeland which I use in the fridge or freezer, so have kept those, everything I have not used this year has gone into the boot sale bag......I am planning to tackle the cake tin cupboard next, I must have 10 different sized victoria sponge cake tins amoungst others..............I never use them, so therefore I do not need them.
After lunch we decided to have a quick trip out, cooked pork for supper when we got back, just catching up on MSE and a couple of other sites I go onto........
Living in the sunny? Midlands, where the pork pies come from:
saving for a trip to Florida and NYC Spring 2008

Lol - I just had to share this with you. DS2 is watching Xfactor and the lad on there is making such a racket that the dog ran downstairs and started barking at him! It's the first time he's ever done anything like it, lol!January '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far

Kaz, flylady challenge? Mmm, words ring a distant bell, but no not sure!:rotfl: You'll gather it's gone off a bit again:o How long until the wines ready, we'll need a few days notice for the drinking party!:rotfl:
Visitors have gone along with more of my welshcakes!!!! Why oh why were they still "cooling" on the trays? They could have been packed away they were so cool, then they would have eaten biscuits instead of my cakes!! I'm horrible aren't I? To be honest i like the parents but their greedy sullen 13 year old son is a pain in the bum!! He just kept eating my cakes and when his mum said are you enjoying them, he replied they're alright, I suppose. ALRIGHT, my welshcakes are great!!!:rotfl:
Moggins, that hand sounds painful, and on the palm you'll have to be careful or it'll just keep splitting open. You're going to have to get good at doing things one-handed! Like when you had tiny babies, it's a mum skill!:D
Glad you found your needles kiwi, that's real dedication knowing what was to happen with them!!:D I think that's such a good thing to do, sadly they wouldn't accept me some years ago, because I've had cancer twice. Won't even accept blood from me anymore, sadly. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Arrrggghhh MIL's just phoned to say that I've left my knitting bag in Shropshire complete with all my wool and needles! She's going to drop it off in Cheltenham on Tuesday and DH is going to pick it up for me.
