Good morning all! :hello:
hi to SugaJen & CarolnMalky
Chardonnay - you've exhausted me already! hope the move goes well (sorry, re-read it & it was what you did yesterday - not this morning!)
PP - hope all goes well at hospital, & they get it sorted out. Also I read your post as saying you were getting your hair cut in Argos! Then re-read that too!
Ancasta - What a lovely message to have for a tattoo! (looks a bit red round the edges - you're braver than me!)
Zed42 - well done with your storecupboard thingy. Cranberry muffins? (sorry, not very original)
elona - if my experiences are anything to go by, you will have a busy day today with lots to organise. Hope all goes well.
hello to all to follow, and to everyone who posts while I am typing this!
I knew it - I have just clicked on "refresh" (copying this lot first of course) and twink has sneaked in!
Hi twink!
Today I am still doing my tour of holidaymakers' houses! One needs the cat fed, other one needs the fish fed. The fish one is the most difficult, as my BIL has installed the most elaborate security system & I am terrified I will do something wrong & set the whole lot off!
DS1 and his fiancee got home last night from their holiday in Egypt. I was a bit worried because of the problems at airports, but maybe it is only a problem to get out of the country! Her mum picked them up from the airport (we took them) so hopefully we will see them today and hear all about the holiday.
Dinner tonight is in my menu planner as pizza, but I think I will swap with Thursday & have jacket potatoes, for no other reason than the fact that I found some really huge baking potatoes on the local market (6 for £1) and they look very nice!
Have a good day everyone!0 -
Good morning everyone, and welcome CarolnMalky! Just a quick post now, as about to go to work, but wanted to get in before I came home to about 5 pages worth of posts :j
Going to be busy but quiet again today I think - it always is when the students aren't in. You spend 3 weeks wishing for some noise, and 10 minutes after they're back you want the peace back again! Oh well, better head off...0 -
:bdaycake: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR PROCTALGIA:bdaycake:
Morning all,
Welcome carolnmalky:wave:
Well my bucket of Blackberries have been socking overnight so hopefully will have got rid of any beasties in order for me to make various things with them later on.Whislt picking a man from the allotments came over and gave me a bag of goodies, french beans and courgettes(sp) so will be including them in tonights dinner.
The local collage is running a cookery course starting in sept which I have decided to go for since DD will be starting school and shall hopefully have a bit more time on my hands. The fees are £195.75 for a 27 wk course @ 2.5 hrs per week, may ring first before I send of the application form off and see what they will be cooking and what level the course is.
ancasta the pain of child birth was enough:eek: I'm far too chicken to get a tat unless they would give me gas & air??
Anyway must pop off, have a great day, will catch you later
Take care

Morning all. My head's too foggy to write anything decent (not that I necessarily do when its clear either.) I'm lurking upstairs in the hope that HE will do all of the morning dog duties. Puppy seems (fingers crossed) fully housetrained now, and enjoyed his holiday darn sarf (down South). Sounds like its O.K. to descend.... wonder if he thought to make tea?

Hello - I'm fairly new to OS and have been reading it for a few weeks now. I have to say - you guys are saving my life!!! Last-minute thickening tips, flavoured oil warnings, how to de-clutter, ways to clean fabric without spending a fortune on fancy cleaners, the list goes on.......dare I say it but.....it's like having lots of mums and grandmas in one place to get amazing advice from
(I mean that in the NICEST possible way.....p.s. I'm 32 so technically old enough to be a mum myself - but thank God I'm not :rotfl: ).
So, I'm starting my OS life and yesterday was a good day. I collected a lovely foot stool from a freecycler, I made a delicious casserole with fairly cheap ingredients, packed up lots of old clothes that I have sold on ebay to send today and today I am going on a blackberry hunting mission! (although I don't think they're ready here in devon yet) - the ones at the end of my boyfriend's garden aren't but they're near a road so don't want them anyway.
Bye for now and I shall become a regular (as and when uni allows). :j0 -
Morning! :hello:
DD went back to work yesterday, only problem was walking to the station, someone got too close for her comfort and she felt herself flinching away, quite natural after all she went through but doesn't make travelling any easier. After using witch hazel (very ol style) the bruising on her face has gone down but her eye is still sore, still cannot believe that the thug used her phone to hit her in the eye!
I have sorted out a fair bit of clutter from the upstairs rooms and need to get to our local salvation army charity shop today with the bags. Getting out of the shop without buying more will be my main problem!
It doesn't look like the bathroom will be finished by Friday when I have family and friends around, oh well perhaps after a few glasses of wine they won't notice or mind. It will be lovely when it is finished and I am very pleased with the tiles from Wickes, very good value too.
Thinking of you today Elona, this is a difficult time and you are expected to make decisions when you would really rather be left alone! ((((Hugs))))
Catz xOur days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

How about doing vodka and cranberry - see the flavoured spirit post. Even if you dont drink could you give to other as xmas presents? I plan to make baskets up with small bottle of raspberry gin and goon aattempt to knit fluffy scarfs (just waiting for wool to arrive from ebay).
Or how about making a cranberry sauce and freezing it for xmas (am guessing it would be ok frozen for that long?

Having a cup of tea and will phone to make appointments for later today at hospice and registrar.
Will try to make a huge quiche for later - will feel more normal if I cook.
Can hear one of my DDs moving around upstairs so will probably be chucked off here soon.
Thanks everyone.:A"This site is addictive!"

Morning everyone. Welcome to any newbies, and nice to see ancasta and chardonnay back.
Firstly, huge hugs to elona and family. I can imagine what you are going through, and hope you find some peace in the way it happened. Best wishes for the next few weeks.
it's an early one for me. I had to get up at 7:30 as my car alarm was going off, and i thought i might as well stay up. No obvious reason why it did, but i thought i would have a leisurely breakfast with DH before he went to work.
I was a bit bored and down in the dumps yesterday for no particular reason.I need to make the effort for the next couple of weeks, or my precious holiday time will get wasted, and i'll leave myself with loads to do when back at work.
Plan for the day, need to do a couple of loads of washing at least. I got one done yesterday, and the clothes sorting fairy found a fiver in DH's shorts pockets. I think that will pay for my lunch out with work colleagues today. We meet up every summer hols, just the once, as it is the one time we are all relaxed enough to enjoy it.
I've already done the internet banking this morning. It's a bit like ping pong today. Wages in, three bills already out today, plus another couple tomorrow, and DH's car bill paid on the switch.
We have spent so much in the past week that the usual security tag that means that you have to ring up and answer questions, didn't happen. I guess the bank are used to us spending thousands at the moment, so i'd best change that PDQ.Back to my skinflint days i think. I'm getting savings withdrawals as i haven't managed to save in 2 months now. I can see me wanting to save most of my last wage packet next month, but bet i can't with the decorating bill.
I'm going to scootle asi need to find my phone charger, and have a bath this morning. I don't know what time my friend is coming to pick me up, so hopefully i'll find a text from her.
will probably pop back in this afternoon to catch up.

Morning everyone.
Well I am now a convert to OS. In fact I think I am becoming a little bit obsessed (is there an OS amon board?).
We really need to cut back on our spendings as with interest rates creeping up things are getting tighter and tighter. Our main problem is childcare costs. I would like to be able to work during the week instead of Sat and Sun but this seems to be our only option as otherwise I would bring less home than I currently earn with childcare fees taken out. It feels like a real catch 22 situation.
Anyway enough moaning. WM finished 2 load, BM on with delicious loaf baking thanks to you kind people sorting my recipe out for me. and just waiting for responce to my post about chicken in slow cooker then off to buy the veggies for tonights t.
Have a good day everyone.0
