Thank you! Its amazing the advice and reassurance to try things given here!!
I will have a go someime soon and let you know my success..I remember my mum NEVER manging to make tablet..it always looked lik a defrosting slab of ice!!and as I dont have thermometer etc wasnt sure it would work..
mind you was surprised pastry was ok! (cold hands obviously an advantage for something!!), so if I can make soem tablet/fudge maybe I will take it down to treat my poorly wee mum for Christmas.
Mind you living on my own I really dont want to make lots of these things as it will just get eaten!
Maybe next year I can find a Mr Elgar!! (now suggestions on that is probably above and beyond MSE!!)to share it with...wish Id thought of better id than Elgar!! mmmm

Made this recipe today as a treat for my father who's visiting tommorow, It's fantastic and even got the thumbs up from 20 something children. It matters not if you try and fail, and fail and try again; But it matters much if you try and fail, and fail to try again.

About to make some for christmas, how long does it last?, can you freeze it? I'm hopefully that it will be so yummy that these questions aren't necessary - but just in case!0
-
Freeze it? You are joking!!! It won't last long enough to reach the freezer haha. I just keep it in an airtight tin and put it to the back of the high shelf in the cupboard, pile loads of stuff in front of it and try to forget about it for as long as poss. IT IS SO YUMMY THOUGH AND i AM A WEAKLING.Jasmine0

Tablet won't last long, trust me!
Because of it's really high sugar content, tablet will last for ages. Just need to keep it in an airtight container, so that the sugar in it doesn't attract any water.

Thanks - hopefully jasmines recipe will work for me and I wont have a problem!0

I agree with the others ... storing tablet??? never heard of such a thing, lol, it won't last 5 minutes!
I'm not a fan of sweet things, but if it's done right & you get that smooth melt-in-the-mouth thing going on, even I can't resist
hmmm, I'm sure I have a can of condensed milk tucked away at the back of a cupboard ... see what you've started now?
enjoy, just try not to eat it all yourself sample too much of it for quality testing purposes0 -
This sounds interesting - but what is tablet
I thought it was a medicine, but obviously not - would be nice to see this recipe if you could direct me.
