Hi All
I wondered if anyone had a recipe for traditional crumble/melt in your mouth Scottish tablet? I am thinking as a late gift idea (probably stupidly) of making some to give to people on Christmas Day when they come over...
I know I can get to the shops tomorrow so can probably get the ingredients.
Sorry if I am posting in the wrong place, never quite sure where to put these requests.I saw two shooting stars last nightI wished on them but they were only satellitesIs it wrong to wish on space hardwareI wish, I wish, I wish you'd care0 -
Funny you should ask I have just made some to take into work tomorrow
This is the recipe I always use and as long as I stick to these quantities it never fails but when I try to double the quantity it refuses to set!
1 small can Evaporated Milk
1lb Granulated Sugar
4oz Butter
1/2 teasp Vanilla Essence
I usually use the base of my pressure cooker as it has a good heavy base.
Place milk and sugar in the pan and allow to soak for at least 2 hours
Cut butter up into small knobs and melt slowly.
Bring to the boil stirring continuously until mixture reaches "Soft Ball stage"
Remove from heat, add Vanilla essence and beat for approx 2 mins
Pour into tray and allow to cool
Enjoy!!0 -

Hi ktflosspot,
We have a recent thread on making tablet with some links to recipes, so I'll merge your thread with it as it helps to keep all the replies together. I hope you find a recipe you like.
