Love the NHS?- Me too - the lovely podiatrist I saw has sorted out orthotics that have made a huge difference to the pain from my foot and I'm able to walk locally (fairly flat) without pain for around five miles (too cold for longer)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

It does not address the capacity issue you have but the reliability of our service was resolved by replacing the router.

Hope your aunt is ok. Cant praise the NHs enough during this time not just for the Covid response but the few times we have had to access services they’ve been fantastic.DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Well my aunt had an angiogram and didn't need anything else (so no stent) - which is fab. It was *only* a small heart attack, apparently... She has been home for several days now and is fine
DH and I had our (normal) flu jabs yesterday - and were both feeling rough within a few hours - all groggy/ woolly headed, nauseous and very tired. Neither of us had eaten the same as the other the previous 24 hours, so it wasn't food related. We both had a nap yesterday afternoon and then both slept in this morning. Feel better today - just a very achy arm.
Dinner today is a use-up of old things, it would seem...... YS chicken from Dec, a bag of King Edward pots bb 28th Sept(!!), the last of a savoy from early Dec and chantenay carrots and sprouts both bought before XmasI also found a pack of pigs in blankets in the freezer and some YS chipolatas bought to make pigs in blankets, but have used 4 today to make sausage-y stuffing balls. Will add yorkshire puds, peas and broccoli (sadly no caulis in shops this week) and that'll do nicely
Clears a bit of space from the freezer -which will be filled with some 0lio goodies later (collected 2 sourdough loaves, lots of breakfast pastries, some naan breads and more potatoes today)
Had our usual electrician here this week fitting 2 new ceiling lights in our living room - DH did the dinning room lights but when our living room ceiling lights were fitted 15 years ago even my (since deceased) uncle (a long standing electrician) found the wiring a pain, so I felt it best to get a pro in for them this time around again! He also sorted out a non-working light in DD's bathroom and a dodgy socket in the kitchen. £70 well spent - and have booked him in to change our fuse board during half term (so the power (and most importantly the wifi....) isn't off during school time) - DH can go into the 'real' office that day
and a couple of other socket changes. A job that was meant to happen last year, but obviously didn't.... Will be good to get it done and will get the electrician back again in the summer months to change our outside lights and fit some outside sockets - ticking off some long standing jobs
January seems to be a very long month..... although the current account is still looking remarkably healthy... (hopefully I haven't jinxed that now!) I think that's partly because I was expecting it to be a super busy work month, with only 1 day off and that's all obviously cancelled with no schools in (and therefore no mocks) and shorter days and shopping less frequently means leaving the house less... it's a bit Groundhog Day-esque at times (although I am not moaning about lockdown - I'd go for tighter restrictions if it helped) I feel some baking of treats is in order this week to brighten things up (am thinking a lemon victoria type sponge, custard cookies and scones.... maybe even some iced buns) I might even (if I get organised enough) do a mini afternoon tea for everyone - although that would need to happen next Sat, then, so that everyone would be available at the same time. Will ponder that thought....

Happy to hear that your aunt is ok, it must have been a horrible shock to all of your family. Even worse that you can't all visit like you normally would have.
Why are you getting the fuse board replaced? (sheer ignorance on my part)5 -
Yes- it's great news about my aunt.
👏Terribly frustrating at the time not to be able to go and see her in hospital (we are very close) and also at home afterwards - but totally understandable.
Fuse board is being changed because there are better ones out there now - we had some ceiling lights wires burn through last year and were lucky no real damage was caused (they were also surrounded by insulation - a big no no!) - the newer type of board would have picked up the issue earlier. Our current one also has a broken cover, which is annoying. It's a 'nice to' rather than 'need-to' job in reality, but the electrican will also sample inspect the rest of the house/ garage/ garden wiring at the same time - fingers crossed there are no unexpected (and costly!) surprises waiting!
Nothing much happening money wise here at the moment. Have op-ed £55 and some pence to the btl mtge to being it to a round figure. Still no progress on the sale... sigh.... We are more than 5 months down the line now..
Small amount of decluttering so far this year. Naturally declining as the kids get older - and we are not massive consumers of 'things' in reality compared to most people I know. We still have a lot of stuff - but there are 6 of us and a lot of it is passed down and well used and clothes are often worn to rags - and we actually tend to have far less clothes than a lot of people anywayThankfully none of our kids have ever been into labels or the latest must haves
😃
