I'm past having an opinion about the situation anymore. I'm not sure I can believe the majority of what is said by the politicians so find it difficult to form an opinion. I'm very much react and crack on. I feel you pain on home schooling. The first morning of it in SJ Towers was horrendous trying to get my head round all 3 of them, and to get them going on something meaningful. Plus my own work fall out from Monday evenings announcement which was pretty intense for the day. In the end I opted for a lunchtime PE lesson and we headed for out 'exercise' with the dog and scooters! Cleared my head, had a word with myself about not asking too much of myself, and slowed everything down!

I live close to a large comp where home resources are very much an issue for a lot of families - definitely no laptops and only limited phone data - school are issuing even basics such as pens and paper to families where required - I used to work at this school and some families simply can't afford such things - and some parents can't be bothered to supply such things
There were some absolute horror stories of parental neglect / abuse by lack of parenting.
I am struggling this time around, I admit. I have fallen into a black hole and am attempting to eat my way out, it would seem!I am struggling with having to be around for support, not being able to do things I'd normally be doing in the day(even simple things such as playing sp0tify, vacuuming, bashing around in the kitchen cooking.... I know we all just need to find our way in this situation - and it will get easier as we do, but right now it is hard. Add to the situation the fact that it is Jan, and Jan is often a bit 'meh' anyway and it is literally freezing weather....
Even though we have decent broadband speed it is struggling with 4 people on z00m or Teamz for most of the day. And then this morning the sockets tripped out during first period (no idea why), so wifi was lost - almost meltdown! Had them on phones with data whilst it was sorted (sadly router needed re-booting twice before connectivity was restored) Add to that that someone has hacked DH's flebay account and spent £120+ from his debit card (which was NOT linked to his paypal) and also his PS account and attempted spending there and that's just more stuff to sort out. PLus DD is glum - nothing heard about start date for job and we don't know if it's going to be delayed by lockdown - and she's spent money on a Winter working wardrobe. Also boyf lives in Wales (in a really badly affected area) and no idea when they'll be able to meet again (will be interesting to see if next door's boyf (also from Wales) visits - he did an awful lot last year when not meant to....) And DS3 is struggling - bedtime the past couple of nights have coincided with dizzy attacks and stomach aches.... and his need for hugs throughout the day is huge
Enough moaning from me - I just need to pull up my big girls pants (which will need to be even bigger if I carry on eating the way of the past few days!) and get on with it - as we all do
Was DS2's bday (15) yesterday - thankfully he requested a Nand0s as his bday meal, so we could still have one as a takeaway (click and collect - ours don't deliver to us) Used 2 x orange rewards on it (did one order from my app and 1 from DD's) as they both expire this month, so the overall cost was very reasonable , even with 3 desserts included
Sadly no premium bonds wins this month (although my mum got her 1st win of £25) - so today I've increased DS2's holding by £100 (some of his bday money) and ours by £25 (steady on!!) (save the change balance from Dec)Not much else money wise happening here - I did put £500 into DH's SIPP this week, though

it is so hard when other people are now in 'your' space, and your capacity to do what you need to do is squished by them.Hugs xxNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

I hope you feel better about everything soon. As you said, January is a bad month for the blues anyway, so everything is compounded and we are all getting to Defcom 2. Positive vibes being sent your way. You can share them around as needed!!What I do not give, you must never take by force.

I'm glad you wrote all that out, actually greent - the practicalities of day to day life in a family under lockdown, they're just not there for me. Thinking of not being able to bang about in the kitchen, for instance - it's obvious once you say it, but, wow.
I'm glad you got the Nandos!2023: the year I get to buy a car7 -
Sending you a big squidgy virtual hug. You can only do what you can do yourself. You are doing your best and we are all trying to be the best we can be in this.
I had a bit of a melt-down-reset call with our one and only DS who had had to leave the house as he was about to melt-down with his housemates. He drove to a causeway to an island and just sat there looking at the water until he let some of the anger go. I know there is CCTV there because people often get caught so I am expecting there to be a police follow up. I advised he should explain why he went out if the Police challenge him and relate his frustration to the rule-breach by the housemate who was being parsimonious, and the impact that he now can't work until they all have clear tests.
After months of our router dropping out regularly I researched it and there is apparently a known fault with the Plusnet router's Wifi (they never admit to this but there is a buried thread in their forum) - so we invested in a BT Smart hub and things have got better. It does not address the capacity issue you have but the reliability of our service was resolved by replacing the router.

Aw, thanks, everyone
I felt much better the day after my post - I think writing it on here and to someone else really helped get it off my chest
Lockdown 1 wasn't bad (for me) so feeling bad straight into lockdown 3 (lockdown 2 hardly counted as one!) was confusing. But if I can't change what is happening then I should let myself accept the strange emotions (apparently...) and go from there. Whatever, I've been feeling more buoyant again
My aunt (69, fit, not overweight) had a heart attack on Fri night whilst facetiming her DD. Thankfully she is seemingly ok (although they have no idea what caused it yet) - she is having an angiogram tomorrow and if she needs a stent they will do it at the same time. Otherwise it may be a bypass...! I spoke to her earlier and she is quite chirpy, for which I am very thankful (she is sooo lovely) She is not in our main county hospital, as that is the c0vid one - instead she has been transferred to the next town's hospital (same NHS trust), which is c0vid freeI
the NHS
Not much else is happening here. We played an online escape room earlier (well, the kids did - I spoke to my aunt for most of it) - the kids are really good at the online ones - I may have to get some more whilst we are in lockdown

I too have been so grateful to the NHS over the last year - dd's + my routine appointments (hospital/GP) have all happened (some in person, some on the phone). They are doing so much to keep normal things going too.
