I do tend to watch catch up tv during it - but not always. There's something almost meditative about removing all the creases from clothing and bedding (Etc) - sort of soothing my thoughts as I smooth the laundry!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £206

I don't mind ironing, I like the fact that you can see a tangible difference once it's done. However, that is FAR outweighed by my annoyance that it all just gets creased again!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

So day 1 of home learning starts today.... both my younger 2 are gutted they're not going back and DS1 will be here instead of uni for even longer. It may possibly affect DD's start date for her job, too
And means that the work I had for the next 5 weeks at 2 schools has disappeared so no pay for.me (casual hours so not salaried and state school so no furlough) and DH has masses of work.
BUT we are healthy and warm and have food and money and a decent sized house and all the kids have their own laptops so it could be so much, much worse. And we live right by the canal for quick muddy walks
It's the inevitability of it and the u-turns and the short notice that gets to me, I guess.
Anyway- suppose I should getbuo, get smaller ones up and get my b*m into gear. A smkt trip was always in the cards today but will now make it a bigger one and try not to go again until weekend for a top up one thenI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £206 -

It's holding that balance, isn't it - your situation is pretty resilient (as is mine) but that doesn't mean that it's absolutely fine to live through a global pandemic! Sad to hear about the little ones missing out on school too.

A lot of the policies are essentially media driven, with responses to the increasingly angry ranty phone-ins or celebrity interventions. Last night there was an item about the cost of data. So next I expect a fund for some data dongles for laptops or 4g routers (in multi child households) can run off. It isn't like meters are not known to be more expensive so why are we expecting PAYG phone data to be any different?Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

To be fair, I was surprised they didn't provide free internet access to families along with cheap laptops for the children to work on 6 months ago. At least they are finally getting round to what we all expected to happen. What I do not give, you must never take by force.
