My best friend works for the government place we have here in Glos - I think her clearance took months before she started after getting the job offer - and involved me being questioned for about 3 hours by their vetting officer as her closest friend. Around 15 years later and several promotions she now has DV clearance, but that was done whilst there, so no real impact
Even SC assumes you are in contact with and know all details about what are theoretically close family members- but in reality aren't. DH's dad (they are really not close) slowed his right down to the point it was almost an issue for his start date- DH needed to know dob for his father's partner and when they moved to their address and it caused a lot of friction between them just getting that info from him! I think they are of the 'the government knows too much and wants to keep tabs on everyone and everything they do' mentality....🙄

The place near you has a slightly different process to the rest of government - the interviews with people that have known you for longer than 10 years only come in to play for DV but the place near you has a number of levels or classifications within that too - hence the name they are known by. For the rest of us, the SC forms are checked for accuracy and they evidently search on ones relatives for anything adverse.
We had a very funny episode with an overseas contractor - many years ago - but just to say we had to accompany him everywhere. Brilliant technologist.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Flebay sale (chunky item and netted a few pence short of £50) posted yesterday and another one going out today. Also have bids on another item, so another should be going before the week is out 👏 3 pairs of school trousers hopefully being collected by an 0li0-er at lunchtime, too
Will aim to get more things on T'bay/ fb00k / 0li0 before the week is out - I do love a noticeable pile of items going
DH is actually in the 'real' office today for a face to face (assuming socially distanced!) meeting. Cue some running around this morning as he'd forgotten and we'd slept to our later time (a definite advantage of home learning and working is later wake up times!) I also had to hastily make him something for lunch to take with him, as the onsite catering is (I think) non existent during lockdown.
I've had one at 'school' for 20 mins now and the other doesn't start for another 20 mins. The finish times at end of day also differ by 50 mins... and I would say the quality of online teaching between their 2 schools is vastly different. Good job the y7 one has some time to catch up! I can see this is going to impact exams/ results/ possibly even the syllabus for some subjects for some time.
With the announcement yesterday that Welsh unis are doing online teaching only (unless things like medicine) until at least Easter, it would seem that we have DS1 hanging around for a while... not that that is an issue
I have plans for DD to do some baking today - not that we need the goodies, but she will stay all day in her room unless I give her tasks. I think its better for her MH that I occasionally drag her out for a walk (actually, no dragging necessary - she is happy to get out) and get her to *do* things at times - she can then 5napchat the results of her efforts to her friendsPlus she is 23 and can therefore definitely contribute to the housework whilst she has nothing else to do!! 😁

Aw, thanks, Kc - it never feels like I do much, actually!
Had c0vid test at work on Thurs (rapid one) to enable me to work yesterday morning - nice morning at work in reality - and I got to see different people, which was fantastic! Will have another this week, as I working Fri morning for maybe 3 hours.
Had a flebay max selling fees offer 2 weekends ago, so listed/ relisted some items and sold most of it. Had another fees offer this weekend, so a few more items were listed and one has already sold and another has a bid on - am impressed with this, as they have been some decent sized items going, with corresponding good sized boxes and amounts of bubble wrap/ polystyrene/ packing paper/ airpacks all being reused with them - a good sized car boot's worth of items, I'd guessHaven't decided whether to buy more PSB with proceeds or to use it to top up the account we fund DS1's uni rent etc from (literally paying money for nothing there at the mo - grrrr) May split half and half, to satisy both heart and head urges!
Yesterday afternoon after work DH was watching both rugby games and I was motivated to sort some paperwork in the office (DH is holed up in there all week, so it's hard to get to some things without disturbing him - and he has a lot of video calls) Lots shredded/ recycled and our paper sack is now crammed full. I did waver about some things half way through, so probably still kept more than needed, but good progress was still made- quite pleased with what I achieved. DH has SO much paperwork in there, though, that you really can't tell that I've done anything!

What do you mean by PSB?
Well done on getting rid of so much paperwork! I accumulate too much of the stuff myself.6 -
Premium bonds - they used to be premium savings bonds, so the old abbreviation was PSB - certainly that's what we used when I worked in a bank, so it's an old habit! - sorry!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £206

I'd worked out it must be Premium Bonds but in my head I always read psb as purple sprouting broccoli!!

I was legit thinking it was something related to rent.
Purple sprouting broccoli must be really expensive if you were to choose between that and rent @Viking_mfw !!6 -
