Yes.... far, far too young. She was genuinely a lovely person, too. I can honestly say I don't think I have ever seen a church (and a big one at that) so fully packed out. All pews and extra chairs were used and people still ended up standing packed in at the back. Beautiful service ❤
Was in work for 3.5hrs this morning - nice to be out of the house other than for a supermarket
Well, half term has officially arrived- DS2 has literally just finished lessonsDS3 has 1 piece of work to do (well, finish - he started it in break earlier) not sure about DS2, but they don't usually have hwk during holidays anyway. We are all very ready for it!!
Ooh - and DD has a start date for her job -1st Marchwhoop!
No money news that I can think of. I have several piles of things on the kitchen sides to list on fbk marketplace - but I just can't be bothered right now. I am super tired and even contemplating a quick restorative nap!!after another cup of tea, though....

It's half term!!!
I woke up at 7.15 - left everyone else sleeping and enjoyed the peace until just gone 8am, when DS3 woke up. Everyone else is still asleep (8.45). I'm on my 2nd cup of tea, have made seeded wholemeal bread dough and listed 4 things on fbook marketplace (3 more things to go) Some may be better for flebay but I'm waiting for another listing offer (hopefully next weekend)
The sky was beautiful when I got up - all streaky pastel pinks and bluesVery chilly outside, though - I trotted out to the compost bins and the ground is solid. (Noticed several piles of cat p00 in the grass so I may sort those before it warms up too much and they defrost!)
No big plans today - think ill make sure the youngest 2 have totally sorted their school stuff out and out it away for the week and ensure that bedrooms are suitable for the electrician on Monday... there's a lot of leg0 all over the floor of one of them! I think I may need the (not so) smalls to try on school things, too - in case they don't fit it then gives me a bit of time to try and find new stuff..!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £205 -
Your smalls are growing! I love that phrase to describe them, it's so cute, Glad you got a bit of peace and quiet before today kicked off, hope the day is a good one.2023: the year I get to buy a car4

1st of March! Not too far away now! Very pleased for her, I bet she's feeling relieved.
Hope you have a great half term!5 -
Thanks, kp - she's looking forward to it, but understandably nervous at the same time!
Lousy weather here today - cold and heavy rain. Had hot choc with Baileys just - felt very indulgent to do so on an afternoon!Have also made a huge rice pudding - rib sticking comfort food

Great news DD has a start date now.DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)
MFW (08/08) £118k Gone (09/23)3 -
Not just a start date now, but late yesterday she received all of her paperwork from HR so has formally accepted the offer and has started completing all of the formal information stuff HR need. First day is at HQ - which is about 1.5 miles away from our house, rather than in the town centre, so I said I will drop her off there rather than she have an uphill 35 min walk and look flustered upon arrival
.
Had electrician here all day yesterday to change consumer unit and rectify some faults found along the way (he has to test the areas before he can install the new unit and certify it) - and he found a major one about the wiring laid from the house to the garage.... that's thankfully being sorted on a different day, along with some other work (new outside lights both front and back - ours are dangerous and had to be in effect disconnected from the fuse board , a brand new light at the side of the house for going out to the bins, outside sockets front and back) As I was quoted 550 for the board yesterday without any remedial work and also had him sort 2 sockets out in the kitchen which were a bit dodgy and he was here all day I was pleasantly surprised that yesterday's bill in total was 'only' £620 - have paid it and he has estimated all the other work at just under £600 (we are supplying 3 lights, he is supplying 3 plus the sockets plus all cable stuff and the work is probably 1.5 days) - am impressed with that price and we will book him in for April once we have looked at some lights:)
I paid £500 of yesterday's bill.from our slush fund account and £120 from current account - our slush account covers big white goods, house repairs etc, but I still like to (where possible) cover some from normal.spends as well - in reality i don't like spending money from any savings account!
On the subject of money, I had an unexpected 101 from my aunt yesterday - final monies all sorted from my nan's estate(FiT pymt) and it was decided to split the very last of it 6 ways - the 5 beneficiaries in the will and me for the work I did - unexpected bonus money - whoop! Will likely buy more premium bondsAm a bit rubbish at spending money on me - although I did splash out on a super soft hoody from Sainz the other day for a bargain £16
No.ppwer for much of the day meant board games came out for yesterday- scrabble was a big hit. Also played jenga and various card games. Risk was sadly put aside - but I think may make an appearance later today for the rest of the week 🤞Monopoly and Cluedo have also stayed out
Small flebay sale.of one of DS3 's games yesterday - he will only end up with a few £ after post, but it's something else out and it encourages them to think about whether they want things and they know they get the money and can spend it on something else/ save it. Also sold a.few books on fbook and gave away another item
Lots of tidying up to do here today after the electrician had to move lots of furniture and stuff around the house when fault finding. Literally as he left we had a (very strange) man come to quote for some other work (5th person we've had look at the work... one day we might get a quote!) and then Fter that it was food, then clearing that up, then Only Connect and then sorting smaller ones out, so none of the sorting out got done yesterday- suppose I could make a start on it now..... sigh....I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £207 -

How lovely that it's all going well for DD! And your day yesterday sounds great, between board games and good electrical work at a good price. I'd call that a win2023: the year I get to buy a car6
