Thats exactly what I have done via the ebay- pay now - request total from seller.

    Just to cover my back.

From his email I have the feeling this seller has limited knowledge of the English language.

Sounds like you've won. Hopefully you'll get the invoice and be able to pay.

If you're feeling kind, drop him a warning about the VAT thing after paying :)

    Oh my goodness.

Stupid stupid me ended up bidding on something for fear of losing it.

Contacted seller beforehand to get an idea of postage with no reply.

I have now won the auction for a ram memory card (lighter than normal letter posting price).

Now they want me to pay £15.00 for postage.

    What a con.

I will obviously have to pay for it to keep up my excelent reputation but I hate this sort of thing.

I am just having a vent on here

So you paid up just to keep your rep , you shouldn't of paid , tell him why ,and just don't leave any feedback

Well I have now received the revised invoice through ebay and have made my payment through Paypal.

Now I will just have to wait and hope for the best.

My risk taking days are behind me and I hope anybody reading this that may have taken the same risk won't.

Thanks guys for all of the support on this thread but hopefully this will work out in the end.

Glad to hear you have only paid a small portion of the price he was going to have you paying - the postage he was going to get you to pay was way too excessive as he obviously knew!

Ask him for his VAT reg number as you're also registered for VAT and want to claim it back!
  • I have seen sellers selling items at £.20 on a BIN with £5.00 postage. It is just a way of keeping their selling fees down and getting the price they want for the item.

If the item is worth the combined price then just buy it. If it's not then don't!
