The Horniman Museum in Forest Hill is another great free entry museum too. It's an anthropological museum with gardens and is really nice. They've got a Robot Zoo exhibition at the moment where they've created loads of animals in robot form so that kids can see how they've evolved and work etc.0

The invention that kick-started the Industrial Revolution was the Newcomen Steam Engine. Thomas Newcomen was born in 1664 in Dartmouth, Devon, where the oldest working model of his engine - recently named the Newcomen Memorial Steam Engine by the Newcomen Society - is still working today in the Newcomen Museum.
The Newcomen Museum is part of Dartmouth Visitor Centre, which is situated in the heart of this historic and beautiful town.
Entry is free and for just £1 you can make the engine work!0 -

I said 2 years ago I had never been but a friend's child loved it. We have been twice this year and really enjoyed it. The volenteers were really welcoming and engaging. The first time we went was in the snow so the outside bits were closed due to health and safety, the second time they were running an event so there were different things to see inside as well as the outside exhibits. Do visit if you are in the area.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0
