great resource! Could you add us, pelase? The Harley Gallery - we're an art gallery and museum in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, S80 3LW, and free entry.
We show national, touring exhibitions of art and craft, and have a museum which is the only space in the UK dedicated to showing objects from the Portland Collections, of fine and decoratve arts, built up by the Cavendish-Bentinck family here at Welbeck over 400 years. AND - we're a lovely day out, right next to Sherwood Forest, Clumber Park and Creswell Crags0 -
If you plan to visit Winchester (Hampshire) Pop-atelier is a free Arts gallery!

The gallery is just one of a number of new shops recently set up near Winchester railway station. Affordable art and curios, by anyone and for everyone!0 -
Fort Nelson in Portsmouth, has been revamped (Summer 2011) and is a great place to visit, the indoor museum areas have been updated and include interactive exhibits. The tunnels are great fun for children to run through as they learn about the history of the fort.
Thoroughly recommend this free day out.0 -
There's a new museum in Bristol call 'M Shed', it opened last year. It's housed in what was 'The Bristol Industrial Museum'.
It's free entry and in a lovely part of Bristol, right by the docks.
Here's the link http://mshed.org/about-us/
It really is worth a visit!0 -

Aberdeen Maritime Museum
Aberdeen Maritime Museum tells the story of the city's long relationship with the Sea. This award-winning museum is located on the historic Shiprow and incorporates Provost Ross's House, which was built in 1593. The Maritime Museum houses a unique collection covering shipbuilding, fast sailing ships, fishing and port history. It is also the only place in the UK where you can see displays on the North Sea oil and gas industry. Aberdeen Maritime Museum offers visitors a spectacular viewpoint over the busy harbour.
Aberdeen Art Gallery
Aberdeen Art Gallery houses one of the most important art collections in the country ranging from 18th century portraits by Raeburn, Hogarth, Ramsey and Reynolds to powerful 20th century works by Paul Nash, Ben Nicholson, Stanley Spencer and Francis Bacon. The paintings also include excellent examples by French Impressionists and Post Impressionists Monet, Renoir, Sisley, Bonnard, Toulouse-Lautrec and Degas.
In the Gallery's magnificent centre court displayed at intervals between the grey and rose granite columns are highlights of the contemporary art collection including works by Damien Hirst, Alison Watt, Kenny Hunter, Louise Hopkins and Gavin Turk.
The significant collection of Applied Art includes ceramics, costume, furniture, glass, jewellery, metalwork and textiles. A programme of temporary exhibitions showcases a selection of Applied Art objects in the back court. The collection is particularly strong in the areas of metalwork, jewellery and enamelling, featuring work by the early Aberdeen silversmiths, the Aberdeen artist, James Cromar Watt and contemporary makers, such as Malcolm Appleby, Maureen Edgar and Michael Lloyd.0 -
