Can I ask a bit about freezing the baked jacket potoatoes? I've got four left over in the fridge just now! How do you reheat them - microwave or conventional oven? Do they need to be defrosted first? And do they not go all grey /mushy inside? Thanks!0

I wouldn't recommend it myself. Try turning them into 'wedges' and freezing them - cut into wedge shapes, light spray with oil, toss in suitable seasoning (pepper/salt mix, spicy tex-mex mix or whatever..) If you give them 15-20 mins in hot oven 200-220 they should be OK.0 -

I wrap them in foil bung in the freezer. Then the night before put in the fridge to defrost. Next day take out of the foil and zap for approx 3 mins in microwave. (They don't reheat well from frozen in microwave).
They go a bit soft on the skin but they don't go grey inside at all.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
When my kids were at home I used to make a big container full of crumble mix and freeze it; I sometimes made it up without the sugar, then it could be used for a sweet or savoury crumble (add sugar for sweet, a little dried mustard, grated cheese etc for savoury). I found this a nice time saver when I was working full time.. So easy and quick to take out enough for a crumble.
I'll try freezing anything - I've always frozen baked goods, grated cheese, fruit, pulped down tomatoes, meat, veg. milk, fish, home made pies and pastries (I used to do a mammoth baking session once a month!).
the only thing I've never tried is eggs, and reading the posts on here has prompted me to give it a go next time I have more eggs than I can reasonably use.
I have a book from the 70's called The A to Z of Home Freezing by Mary Norwak. It lists by item - how to freeze, how long etc - and also gives some really nice simple recipes.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

We chuck leftover cooked veggies into a bag that is constantly on the go in the freezer. When we fancy a good stock, soup or stew the bag is really handy, esp if you haven't been shopping for a while.Piggypoints - 207+£10 * Quidco - £95 * Tesco - 1095 * Sainsbugs - 4237
