I freeze muffins and all baked good all the time. In my experience they freeze very well. Maybe there was something wrong with the ham you used  I'm sure dates and pecans will be fine though.

I make fairy cakes and muffins with raisens or choc chips, cherries, blackberries etc and they all freeze well. I sometimes make a victoria sandwich sponges and freeze them ready for a time ahead so i can take them out and decorate them.

I freeze slices of lemon so i can take one out at a time and pop straight into a drink instead of ice ie water or diet coke with a slice of lemon

I freeze loads of vegies and left over meals for hubby to take to work ie spag bog

I chop up and freeze home grown herbs in ice cube trays to put straight from the freezer into cassoroles and spag bog etc

I make homemade cobs and freeze on the day i make them so they are always fresh to eat.

I know i freeze loads more but my brain has gone dead now

What a great thread:j Would never have thought of freezing coconut milk or pesto. These usually get half used and wasted.
I have made some HM hummous today, as usual too much. Has anyone frozen this before?

i suspected that it was a ham issue rather than a freezer issue. thanks :)
  • Hi, very new to all this, hopefully in the right place, if not sorry. :o

Was given fresh trout which I put into the freezer, only a couple of weeks ago, if that. Decided to defrost yesterday to have as evening meal. Unfortunately had to leave the house until the early hours of this morning & didn't get to use it.

The question is, finally I hear you all say, will it still be okay for me to use this evening?

Hope someone will help. :A Thank you.

After reading alot of the threads on this site, I have been amazed at what can be frozen.... milk, mashed potatoe to mention a couple that I didn't know about.
I know that cheese can be frozen...... and it seems to be better if it is grated first..... but I was wondering... what else can be frozen that you wouldnt think could be ? And are there any special conditions for any specific food type ?
Cant wait to see your answers......
    Thanks
  • bread - i always freeze mine

I think what you need to ask is what can't you freeze? - as I think this list would be shorter.

So far I have discovered some dips cannot be frozen as they tend to seperate. Veg with a high water content (like lettuce, cucumber etc) struggle to freeze well because when they thaw they tend to go to mush.

Anything that is cooked generally can be frozen - in fact I freeze anything and then make the decision when the item is defrosted.

You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.

Yeah... think that is probably a better way to word it. I was just wondering about the more unusual items that could or could not be frozen..
ie pasta...... never seems to work for me.
boiled potatoes.. always turn mushy... ect

Thanks for assisting to rephrase the question Elliesmun......

What can not be frozen well ???
