Kentishdoris so sorry to hear your news. 7 months ago I was in the same position with my Dad. I am lucky in that he has done so much better than the doctors thought. I did not run yesterday morning because it was the day we had to go and see the consultant and I was afraid it was going to be bad news. Thankfully although things are worse they are not as worse as they could be if you see what I mean. Biggest of hugs to you.:grouphug:

Today I have finished week 9 run 3:j
In fact I ran for 50 minutes non stop to well and truly put it to bed!
It was very slow. I wore my heart monitor and I had to try and keep in zone 2 which meant it was slow but to make up for this I carried on and on and on. My legs ache now but it feels good. I have just got to increase my speed now.
Sammy_girl and Drea I look forward to your reports later:D

Sorry to hear your news, kentishdoris, we'll be thinking of you.

W2R3 done today, kept going a little bit longer at the end as I'm so worried about the 3 min run next week  but i think I may be able to do it if I take it very very slowly. Bumped into DH as I was cooling down, he'd just done 8 miles (training for a half marathon ) but bless him, he came to walk back with me. Feeling very virtuous now and ready for breakfast mmm.
Going to start W3 on Monday.

kentishdorish - best wishes to you and your mum. Will put you in my thoughts when I'm doing the Race for Life on the 9th June x

Well done everyone else that's been out over the last few days. I've managed to redeem myself by going out this morning (in the rain ). Guess I'm officially on week 9, but just did my route which is 3.6kms. Probably ran for about 30 mins but didn't time myself. Really not sure how this program makes you run 5kms - I must be so slow but didn't think I was crawling along :(

    Going again on Monday.

Drea - are you back with us now?
    Now proud Mumto3 :j

Hi all, just wanted to say I'm disappearing for a while but hope to be back. Just discovered my Mum has secondary cancer and only a few weeks left so I'm going to go and be with her.

I might get some running done - it's good for clearing the head.

    Good luck to you all!
So sorry to hear that :(

My run yesterday (wk8 run1) was an epic failure. I went on a different route and by the 12th minute I had to stop. I walked for a bit, did another 5 minutes and then stopped again. Then decided to call it a day as I knew I wasn't in the mood for it. Other joggers were racing past me all the time and people in cars kept beeping their horns.. idiots.

Anyway I think I'll stick to my usual route next time. Will maybe give it another shot tonight.

Huge (((((hugs))))) KentishDoris - I'm so sorry for the news of your mum. My thoughts and prayers are with you x

Week 9 Run 1 completed this morning :D I cannot believe I actually ran for 30 min. When I think about the early days and running 3 min, it really does show you how far we've come. I even liked Roberts little speech at the end :)

Mumto2 - I know I'm def not doing 5km yet. Each lap of my park is about 1 mile. So for me to have run 5km would involve 3 laps and a little bit. Today, I ran just over 2.75 laps, so I'm nearly there!! I think it's best if we just keep going and try and work on our times.

I def think a lot of it is psychological. Does anyone remember when Eddie Izard did all those marathons? He was talking about it all being in the head. I just try and get in the mindset and not to think of the time, and that does help me.

Does anyone think they "hit the wall"?! I was thinking that today - I think when I was on about 27 min, and I really thought I would stop, but I made myself keep going. I know we're not at marathon level (not yet ;) ) but surely it happens to all runners regardless of the fitness or ability?

I think I'll try and get Week 9 Run 2 done on Monday.

    Why can't Robert bring out a 5k to 10k? :(

Well done everyone, you're all doing really well :j

Teachergirl - I can't believe you ran for 50 min :T You're like Forrest Gump - just keep on running :D:p
