Couch to 5k Running - Part Two

I have spent the last few weeks trying to decide whether or not to pay for an application for my phone to tell me the GPS stats. I have only just realised I already have one built into my phone :rotfl: It doesn't have as much detail but will use it today and see how it is.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0

Well today was a strange run. It was supposed to be week 4 run 3 but I really didn't want to run as I felt tired. I went to the gym and found that my ipod was flat so ne encouragement through the run. I wasn't sure what I'd be able to do so I started off slowly at 5mph and then just decided to keep running and see how long I could run for. I ended up doing 20 mins no break. My knees feel a bit sore but apart from that I'm ok. I'm not sure what week that is on the coolrunning schedule so I'm off to check that out.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

Week 8 - Run 1 done
so pleased with myself, it really killed though and the sun is shining here which didn't help.
I used the application for my phone and I did 2.18 miles (according to the podcast I should be at around 2.75) and my average speed was 4.9 mph, not very impressive :rotfl:

You trailblazer! Give me chance, I'll be out tonight if I don't think of a good excuse first.
Have you been on mapmyrun.com to see what the mileage comes out on there? Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -

I run around a park and overlap bits, etc so I can't really map it out. Maybe next time I'll go a road route and see what it comes up with then. I haven't gone that way since the first couple weeks so it'd be nice to see how much further I go now.
No excuses accepted!
ETA: Oh it does have the pathways shown in the park so was able to add it up afterall. Seems to be 2.21 miles on mapmyrun.com so about the same.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Did week 8 run 2 this morning. It was really quite hot and I could only find one pair of shorts that still fit! I managed it, which was something of an acheivement because I did a twelve mile walk for charity yesterday. I'm off now to find my sofa:DEnough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0

Sorry girls, have failed today. Set off and did warm up walk. Then went downhill (not literally), MP3 player flew out of pocket twice and wrapped round my legs, felt very stiff, then was going to end up jogging alonside a group of a dozen teen boys and just bottled it. Walked home.
Very disappointed with myself, as first time I've not done it. Just felt really daunted by 28 mins and I dont know why as I was doing that last week when misbehaving.
Might be Weds night now before I can get out again - bad girlNow proud Mumto3 :j0 -
don't feel too down about it Mumto2, you are still doing amazingly.
I'm still stuck at week 5, still can't do that blasted 20 minute run! It all feels a bit hopeless... I had trouble with the 2x 8mins again last time I ran.
I am running again tonight but I think I'm going to skip the full 20 minutes as it's putting me off going at all. I will try week 6 run 1 and see how I get on. I think that if I am at least doing something, it is better than giving up altogether.0 -

Ah we all have bad days (and I've had a couple), the trick is to try not to let it get you downI'm sure you'll do it on Wednesday

If the 20 minute run is putting you off then it's probably a good idea to go onto Week 6 then maybe at the end of Week 6 (apart from the 25 minute run) you could try the 20 minutes again?Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0
