Lots of new starters recently :) welcome :D

smartcat - I felt the same to start with but you soon realise nobody even bats an eyelid. If I'm out walking myself and a runner passes by I barely even notice them.

I felt really self concious as if everybody would be looking at me as they drove past but they aren't bothered are they?
Welcome SmartCat & MinniMe and any other newbies!

I was the same when i started, but really no one cares ... and sometimes you'll get a nice smile like I did yesterday morning ... kind of uplifting and makes you feel good for getting out there!

So week 4 run 1 this morning, I slowed my pace down on the treadmill from 6mph to 5mph for the runs and it was surprisingly ok - I'm going to try to do run 2 at 5.5mph and run 3 at 6mph.

I'm going to keep doing week 4 this week and try the dreaded week 5 next week! Even if I just do the first one all week, at least I'm increasing my run times :)

I decided to do week 4 run 1 today and OMG!! I managed to do all the runs (quite pleased I had done a whole 5 mins:D)...until I got to the last 5 minute run and I had to stop half way through and walked for about 60 seconds, then set off again and it nearly killed me:eek:
But I did it. I never thaught last week I would be able to do one 5 minute run . The first 3 minutes actually felt quite easy even though it felt like torture last week:)
    Bring it on....:rotfl:

Great work bertiebots - maybe start slower next time ... I feel like I'm crawling, but at least am making it through, and am extending the recovery times if i feel i need them - and I usually need a bit more time just before the last 5 min run!!! Second time is definitely easier as you know you can do it! :)

Keep up the great work everyone :)

    Hi All :)

I did my Week 7 Run 2 this morning :j Was most upset to find they had shut off half my usual route at the park so had to improvise! But I did do it. To be honest, I'm not sure if I'm ready to move onto Week 8 after Week 7 Run 3 as I am completely out of breath at the end of the 25 min. So I think I might do another Week 7.

Drea - Hope you manage to get out tonight. You have to keep going because as our illustrious leader you don't want to let us down now, do you :p;):D?????

Mumto2 - Glad your mums op went well.

Mumto2 hope you have a nice visit with your Mum today and that she is recovering well x

Minnime good luck tonight with your first run...I did my wk1 run2 yesterday and although I am a bit sore, am feeling really motivated...

I too feel a bit self conscious and as I start with my warm up walking from my house to the canal near me, I sort of keep my head down a bit, but tbh I never really noticed runners, however now I am sort of looking out for them I have realised that they are everywhere :p

Drea Hope you have a good run tonight x

I was reading about the c25k on the cool runnings site and it said that you shouldn't try to get ahead of yourself on the challenge and try to much too soon...but if you want to hold back and repeat weeks then that is fine...I think sometimes that is my problem in that when I start something I want to fast forward and rush things...but with this I am going to follow the plan and see where it takes me :)

Hope you are all having a good day x

ps Sammy-Girl what is your CBFM in your siggy...I know I am nosey but I keep spotting it and can't think what it could be !!

    Hi

Mumto2 - hope your mum recovers quickly

I love reading about everyone's progress, you are all good encouragers!

This morning did my 1st wk 4 run. It was a lovely morning - but cold - frost on the ground!
I was surprised I didn't ache & the runs were much easier than I had thought (not sure about the 20 min in wk 5 tho!) Amazingly, I was able to answer a woman who said good morning!!!! ...when I was running!!! (good job it wasnt on the last run - which has an uphill stretch in it!)

69chick - Yes. Ginvzt is correct :) It is a Clear Blue Fertility Monitor. I am currently ttc (trying to conceive) and the CBFM helps to pinpoint when my ovulation days are. There are a group of us on the TTC thread who use CBFM so we found it easier to put it in our sig so we know who uses it if we have any questions :)

Chipps - Congrats on your latest run :j I find it nice how people say hello when you're out running. Hopefully they don't feel sorry for me all puffed out and red in the face :rotfl:

Well, I treated myself today. Went into the HeRunsSheRuns section at Sports Direct and bought myself some cropped running trousers and a matching top. All nice and co-ordinating in black and pink. But my goodness, they're so light!!! I think the pants are a bit tight on my bum, but hopefully that will loosen over the coming weeks :o

Hope Drea is having a good run :)

Hi all just popping in to read everyone's progress!

Got my 2nd run of week 1 done yesterday, wasn't too bad, in fact I nearly done it on monday as I felt great but held back as I didn't want to go hell for leather then stop in a weeks time coz I found it hard

So pacing myself now, I find myself reading back over this thread for wee tips and hints lol

Glad all is well with you all, 69 chick well done on getting run2 done aswell, I'm always looking out for your posts now hehe

Been for my run and didn't manage it :(

I ran 15 minutes then had to stop, I walked for 2 minutes then started again for 4 minutes and had to stop again for another 2 minutes then managed the last two running. So all in I ran for 21 minutes and walked 4.

    Quite disappointed :(
