    Well all....drumroll.....I DID IT!

A definite measured 5k nonstop. I reckon it was around 35mins but again sort of lost track of time so can't say for sure. The last little bit was tough since it's a very gradual slope (don't want to give the wrong impression here, it's very little height really but felt like more when it was at the end).

So I am living breathing (panting!!) proof that it can be done. I'm very nearly 40 years old and over 11 stone at 5 foot 2 and had never deliberately run in my life. What started me off was coming home from swimming one night and thinking I was being followed (turned out it was my flipflops banging together in the bag :o) and realising as I tried to break into a run that I just couldn't do it. So believe me there is hope for everyone!

I'm going to stay around for a little while if that's ok because I'm off on hols soon and have a feeling I might end up sticking at or around 5k for the next month or too....

Lots of luck to everyone else doing their runs today.

Morning all, thanks for your wishes.

Felt much better this morning so have been out and done Wk5, Run 3 - 20 mins!!! Was tough, but managed it. Got quite frustrated as my MP3 player was playing up, so wouldn't play my carefully timed music and ended up joining in with the podcase half way through so quite confusing. BUT despite that finished it.

Good luck to those running today.

Drea - hope your leg is feeling better today. Take it easy.

Well done :D my leg is a bit better, I did manage to get a bit drunk last night though so suffering a bit today! Will see how I feel later :o
    Well all....drumroll.....I DID IT!

:j:j Well done on the 5k!

  • Morning everyone. Warning a feeling sorry for myself post here:o

Was doing so well. Last Friday just didn't feel too good so I didn't run, went for a long walk instead. Saturday,Sunday and Monday could not get out of bed. Tried to drag myself back to work yesterday and then managed half an hour before I came home. Been to the Docs and got some antibiotics....chest infection. Was hoping to run again tomorrow but as I need to go and lie down again now that may be a bit ambitious. I have not even felt well enough to get to the computer to read all your posts.
I am going to need loads of encouragement to start again, as blood tests I had came back normal, so the fact I am putting on weight still after all this exercise is not my thyroid I must still be eating too much:sad:

Belfastgirl23 a huge well done to you. :DAlso well done mumto2 :D Welcome to all the new people who have started since I have been missing I hope to be joining you all agin soon.
Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D

    !

Not sure 'self-inflicted' injuries count as an excuse ;)

Managed again this morning, still a bit of a struggle but really proud of myself for getting up and out there .. didn't sleep well so was quite tempted to have a lie in.

Just one more and then can progress to week 4! Although I may just stay on week 3 for another week ;)

teachergirl: Hope you feel better soon :(

I've decided to give my 20 minute run a go tonight. At least I have an excuse for if I fail :rotfl: I'm just hoping my leg doesn't start to hurt again!

Congrats Mumto2 and BelfastGirl. You go girls :j

TeacherGirl - Sorry you're poorly :( Best wait until you're fully fit otherwise you'll only make yourself worse. Make sure you get plenty of bed rest!

Drea - Sorry about your leg honey. But good luck for tonight. Now you've posted that you're doing it, you're not allowed to back out !!!!!! :D Have fund and report back!

Got my Week 6 Run 2 tomorrow morning - 2 intervals of 10 min I think - so will be going nice and slow and steady :)

    Happy running all :)

    I did it!! :D

At 10 minutes I thought I might die. At 13 minutes I was thinking "hey that isn't too bad", at 16 minutes I thought "oh my god, I'm actually going to do it".

My legs ache. I was walking like a duck for my cooldown :rotfl: think they might be a bit sore tomorrow.

    Hurray for me :D
