Well done to all who have run today.
The thought of a 35 minute run makes me quiver with fear!!! So well done belfastgirl. And I totally know what you mean about thinking during your run... I find myself repeating 'think happy thoughts, don't think about your legs!!!' throughout my runs :o

Mumof2 - I like the idea of your own music to time yourself, instead of Ullrey's... it's just a case of finding tracks that are around the 5 minute/8minute mark. I find the beat of Ullrey's podcasts help though...

I have just done week 4 run 2. My legs were burning! But I did it again, didn't stop as much as I was tempted to!

Do any of you know how quickly (or slowly in my case) you are running? I worked it out today and I'm averaging 12 min 52 secs per mile :rotfl::o

I set the treadmill to 6mph for the running bits - I'm only doing that as I know when I was running before that;s the speed I could do 6 miles at and I want to try and get back to that.

Woohoo - did Wk5, Run 2. Absolutely loved it. (so much that I did an extra 4 mins as was so far from home!) :j:j:j

Am considering doing another one of these runs before attempting the run 3. What do you think Drea & Sammy Girl?

Well done Mumto2 :j I would say go onto the run 3 next. You obviously did the run 2 well, otherwise you wouldn't have done an extra 4 min :D

I was thinking how awful it'll be doing my 20 minutes hearing him telling the day 1's and 2's to stop :rotfl: I hate his music but I think I'll stick with him through the programme just to make sure I do it right :)

Both of you seem to have enjoyed the 8 minute runs so hopefully I will too on Tuesday! I'll see how I feel after I've done run 2 but now that I'm close to it I'm quite eager to go and do my 20 minute run... I must be mad.

Actually Drea, I was worried about the same thing - wanting to stop when Robert says the others can stop - but I felt so much better for pushing through. Everytime his voice came on I took it as a step closer to the end! Good luck for your run 2 :j
Hey guys, well thought I did my first 5k today but turns out when I measure it it's actually 4.7k but still pretty happy with it. I think it took about 35 mins but not exactly sure since I forgot to wear a watch.

Wow, well done. Bet you feel great :j

Ok, so I did Week 5 Run 3 today and I was dreading it all weekend!!!! I'm not going to lie, it wasn't easy. But I did it and I didn't stop :j:j:j But it did go quicker than I thought it would. When I stopped to do my 5 min cool down my legs were like jelly :rotfl: The only thing that kept me going was knowing that the first week 6 run was back to intervals, and I didn't want to have to repeat this 20 min run again :o

Anyways, I feel so proud of myself :D Keep going everyone, we're all proof that you can start as complete beginners and can run/jog in no time :)

    Or not :(

Just back from the doctors, I have to rest my leg for a week or so. Shins are just too sore. I am getting proper fitted running shoes in a couple of weeks, and am getting an exercise bike delivered tomorrow from someone off Freecycle, so can at laest use that and hopefully will get back into running shortly. Feel quite gutted, but had attempted week 3 run 1 and I couldn't do the 3 minute run cos of the pain :(

Well done to you all so far. Was amazed at myself for being to able to run for 3 mins!! The thought of doing it for 25mins seems impossible. But I shall persevere.......

I like this thread I am running 5k most nights with varying speeds usually around 32 mins. Didnt go out last week and have signed up for liverpool womens 10k usually do it in an hour last year did 58 mins was chuffed, but havent trained as much this year. I am going to go back to the beginning and look at the original podcast thingy and see if i can put it on my i pod.
