Hello all - sorry I was off for a while. But I am back today - and I re-did my Week 5 Run 1. I think I wasn't on this programme for about 3 weeks now - Easter, work trip, jet-lag. Excuses.

The run was ok - I couldn't do Run 2 of week 5, but I will get there! I did it in the morning and I am feeling well. I had a piano exam in the afternoon, and then we went for a walk as well. I really need to loose weight and fast.

Mumof2 I know just what you mean!! I run on a cycle path popular with dog walkers and feel a complete plonka huffing past them only to stop a few metres in front. My "brisk" walk is more of a stroll tbh as I think I am running a bit too fast. Problem is my legs feel tense and stiff if I slow down (must be the way I am made) so I am just going to keep doing what feels right:D.

Well done ginvzt ...I daren't even look at week 5:eek::rotfl:

I forgot to say on monday I was frightened to death by an old bloke who I had run past...He thaught it was funny to jog past me as I slowed down and because I had my earphones in I hadn't heard him aproach. I think I jumped sideways and made a sort of screaching sound:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Actually looking back that is very embarassing- I think he must have been in his 70s:eek: He stopped just in front of me and so I changed direction onto a different path which mucked up my route a bit
    I think I attract nutters:o

  • LOL... don't worry, I am a weirdo magnet too. Though can't say I've come across many during my jogs - probably because I am out so late :S

Well wk3 run 3 is complete! It felt alright (i.e. I wasn't puffing & panting too badly by the end), though I have a weird burning sensation at the side of my foot/ankle. Can't explain exactly where it is but it's v odd. I am going to have some proper trainers fitted tomorrow, hopefully! Or at least find out what my running shoe type is so that I can buy a pair online.

Well done CompletelyLost:j...I hope some new trainers help sort out your foot problem , it does sound odd.

I found this website quite good when I was trying to find out what my pronation was...I have a neutral foot apparentley:D

I would strongly suggest to get to a sports shop that do gait analysis. If I do 'wet foot' test, I have a neutral foot, but the gait analysis showed that I pronate a lot when running (my foot rolls in diagonally from outside side of the heal towards big tow).

They film you running and can measure the angles and suggest which shoes will fit you better.

Completely lost - I am sure you will enjoy the fitting. I loved mine - they guy was very helpful, filmed me with every pair of shoes I tried, and I think I have tried 8 or more of them (well, quite a few).

After just doing a bit of research on't net I have found that the local sports shop I thaught had closed down has moved to a bigger shop but is still in the same town....even my old coach works there(from long ago-she is a legend)!. So when I get a bit fitter I may just be jogging down to get some shoes fitted. It will be my treat for doing this!:T
My aim is to be comfortabley doing 5k by my birthday late june, so cant miss out any more weeks can I;)

It is SO difficult to find yellow bananas in shops! I have a yellow but slightly green one today, not sure it'll be ready but will give it a go :rotfl:

Gosh, I didn't realise it would be so technical!! I think, like Bertiebots I may wait until I reach a milestone and treat myself :)

That is why I did - I did week 4 and treated myself to shoes. I am still at Week 5 a month later... I only had to do Run 3 of week 5 jsut before Easter, but with the work trip at Easter and then jetlag, I wasn't up for much at all. So, Week 5 again - I would be very happy if I did my 30 min run by the time we go on holiday in first week of July. That gives me 2 months. And I need to increase my speed, as 7.5km/h is not really running - I can walk just as fast!
