However, I often think if I Really really tried I might be able to do a half marathon eventually - so this sounds like a good plan if it is motivational.
Can anyone tell me whether these podcasts REALLY are for couch potatoes first of all... and not for people with lots of previous running experience who just need to get back into it??
Well done to all who are sticking to the plan and achieving their goals. x
I was a walker as well and I think this helped a lot with my running fitness. But when I started I really couldn't run between lampposts if that helps you gauge my level of fitness. And I was over 12 stone at 5.2. And now I'm up to 2.75 miles nonstop (as teacher girl says very slowly!!). All I can say is that my sense of achievement is amazing, at my age you don't get gold stars for effort any more but every single week that I complete the programme I feel I have my own little gold star on my forehead0 -

Afternoon All
Week 5 Run 1 completed today
I don't know about anyone else, but I find the first interval quite hard, but once I find the right pace I seem to be ok. I still think that its a huge jump from 8 min to 20 min on the Week 5 Run 3 though
Out of interest, does anyone know if there is a 5k to 10k programme? Ive seen some that you have to pay for, but they start from 0k. Has anyone seen any free ones?!
You're all doing super well. We should probably start thinking about setting up a MSE team for the London Marathon0 -
Sammy-girl I found these but havent had time to check them(will do later) but I think they are free one is to 8k and one to 10k!:D

I have completed week 2 run 2 this morning as planned. The route I take was quite busy today as the sunshine had braught people out . I tried not to let the amount of people put me off, but on passing a group of young mums for the second time- I ran a bit fast (on my last run ) because I wanted to get past themand was really out of breath by the time I had finished:eek:.....and very pink lol!
Maybe this was a good thing though because I pushed myself and recovered quite quickly. A huge bonus is that my legs are not aching so all in I am pretty pleased.:D:D:D
I worried I would struggle this week after the hols...so I must be doing something right .

Well done, Bertibots! All your activity with the kids in the hols must have kept you in good shape!
I was really embarassed yesterday - I was running along behind a man walking his dog in the distance. Finally caught him up, he must have heard me thundering down, he moved right over the path to let me go past and ....... Mr Ullrey told me to stop
I felt such a dipstick, but really didn't have the energy to keep running quite a way past him.
Sometimes I feel like a need an 'L' plate on my back!Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -

Well I'm going for my last run of wk3 tonight  time flies!!! Think I'll go at about 9.30pm, let my dinner settle.
I still can't believe that I've got this far... I've never exercised in my life until now (to whoever asked if this really was for couch potatoes - I am such a lazy b*gger I barely move, although I'm not overweight, I am/was so unfit that climbing the stairs had me breathless).
