You won't admire it, I didn't go for my run
have been sick a couple times since I got home from work so a night in for me I think. Hopefully better tomorrow!
My run did go better last time, no idea if that was down to the banana or not
Oops looks like I have passed my bug to you over the phone. I haven't seen you so you can't blame me.Never mind, you can get out in a day or two, I was only ill for 2 days.
Starting week 2 tomorrow and looking forward to it. I just hope I don't burst my bubble by not managing.0 -
I started this programme yesterday....I really enjoyed it, far better than trying to run on a treadmill by yourself.....
Thanks again......just got to try and download the other 7 podcasts.....lol

Morning,
yesterday I did wk2 run 3... I was hopeless. I *did* finish it (just) but felt so sick afterwards. I'm not sure whether I should do another wk2 run next time, or go onto week 3. Or does that fact that I've completed it (with a struggle) mean that I am ready for wk 3?
I really cannot see myself being able to run for three minutes when I can barely run for 90 seconds. Did anyone else feel like this when going from week 2 to week 3?0 -

Well first things first, do you have any ideas why you were feeling sick? Were you particularly hungry/tired/dehydrated? Was the weather helping or causing problems? Were there any hills?
My biggest suggestion would be that you were going too fast and need to slow down. this is possible even if you are going at a snail's pace (and believe me I'm talking from experience here). When moving up a week, I run at almost walking pace - I'm figuring what I'm trying to do is get the principal of running established and I can work on speed later. And I really do try to keep it on the flat as much as possible.
But there's nothing to stop you doing another week 2 run again if you choose, that's the great thing about the programme, you set your own pace.
Just don't give up!!
edited to say you might also be living somewhere where the air quality is compromised a little because of the whole volcanic thing...do you think that might be part of it?0 -

You've just got to work out which would make you more disappointed - repeating a run, or possibly not completing one. Really either way you shouldn't be too disappointed, as you're trying something new so there's bound to be setbacks along the way.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Well this morning I ran for 25 minutes with out stopping:j:j It was not easy in fact I was out of breath after 5 minutes so I slowed right down. Then as I thought about giving up the voice said "you are just over half way through" and I kept going. I'd love to tell you all it feels great but I must admit I feel a bit tired and achey. Still it is a huge acheivement from not being able to run at all.
completelylost don't feel down if you have to repeat bits we have all been there.Or just try it, you really might surprise yourself. I totally agree with belfastgirl23 you probably need to slow right down. Almost to walking speed. Somewhere way back on this thread I measured the difference between my fast walk and my slow run and there really isn't much difference. We all try and go too fast but we need to build up the stamina first and then worry about the speed later.
Well done niceday999. Are you feeling any better Drea?
Keep going everyone.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
Well done, teachergirl. That's fantastic - be proud of yourself!
I've just downloaded the Wk4 podcast ready for tonight/tomorrow am. Not feeling very motivated when I saw it's 3 mins then 5 mins - how on earth am I going to manage that when I struggled with Wk3.
Need to think positive as I've just drafted the email to send out to friends with my Race for Life fundraising link - that's commitment then! Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -
I feel a bit better thanks. Still got a pounding headache but not feeling sick anymore so that's a plus.
Well done teachergirlyou should be very proud of yourself!
I'm supposed to be flying down to Cardiff first thing tomorrow and back on Sunday but looks like it won't be happening. Bit annoying but can't be helped I suppose.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

Getting a bit confused - I've read a couple of posts on here saying things like "so then I slowed down" - Is there any reason you're all not running as slowly as possible to start with? Do the podcasts suggest you run briskly etc?0 -
There are a lot of reasons I run faster than I should. Sometimes I see another runner, or anyone walking along. Sometimes I just don't pace myself properly or sometimes I just feel full of the joys of spring and forget I am not yet a marathon runner. Sorry idiophreak it's nothing technical;)Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0
