Those are some strange looking shoes Juno. :)

Best wishes for you and your mum, Mumto2.

Well I hadn't run since Sunday, had been feeling a bit ill with a dodgy tummy, but went for the 3rd run of week 1 late last night. Really enjoyed it, and didn't find it too hard, so looks like I shall be attempting week 2 on Friday.

Hi everyone, thanks so much for all your wishes - I was very touched to read them.

Seems like the last 24 hours have been a bit of a blur. Mum's op has been cancelled. I have just got back from the hosp. Staff shortages & an emergency - she was 3rd on the list, so has got put back. She's due to go back 1st week in May now.
At least then will have proper notice to make arrangements for kids etc.

Managed to get out for Wk3, run 3 last night. did it all, but would be lying if I said it was easy. Need to psych myself up for Wk 4 now

Juno - did you try those shoes on before you ordered? i'd seen them in magazines, but just assumed they were for things that you needed good grip - rock climbing etc :o
    Now proud Mumto3 :j

That's a shame about your mum, still, like you say it gives you more time to prepare!

I saw an article recently on those shoes, it was debating whether we were actually better running barefoot than with trainers, and Juno's shoes were the compromise! I think they're supposed to stop you getting blisters etc if you're running distances, because your feet aren't squashed up against your shoe the way they sometimes can be with trainers.

Feeling a bit ill today and had a sore head all day but I've had my banana ;) and will try my run when I get home from work.
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.
  • I admire your determination Drea!! Did the banana help any?

You won't admire it, I didn't go for my run :( have been sick a couple times since I got home from work so a night in for me I think. Hopefully better tomorrow!

My run did go better last time, no idea if that was down to the banana or not ;)

I've read loads of reviews about them, and started wanting them a while ago. Then a few days ago someone on MSE mentioned them and it started me wanting them again. I'd never actually tried them or seen them in real life, but the site I bought from has a really good returns policy so I could try them around the house for a bit and return them if they didn't fit.

That was the plan, anyway. I wasn't intending to go out running in them as soon as I did.

...I am very overweight at 21 stone 12lbs, BMI 47 and body fat of 46%, so I am going to amend this programme slightly to my needs. I needs to do this a bit slower. Infact if I can work out how I am going to record my own podcasts so I can time myself.:rotfl:
Oh well as they say "you never know until you try". I will keep up with this just at a different pace to everyone else. So those of you who are able to complete week 1 run 1 I am jealous, you guys are so lucky! I cant wait to be as fit as you :D

Well done you! :j I have to say I didn't even try to start until I was/am closer to goal weight. But about doing your own podcasts - I don't have an ipod, so what I have done is to put the timings on the interval timer on my phone. So the phone beeps at me, & there's a message saying "walk" - I just press the button, then after a little while it beeps again, and it says "run". Anyway, it works for me!
